I've been meaning to do this one for a good while now, but was having problems with finding decent reference pics. I even bought the DVD trying to get a better look at parts of it (not that I really need an excuse to buy a DVD that has a Gee Bee flying and taxiing in it Better than porn!). All to find out that while the basic paint scheme stayed the same, parts of it changed all through it's appearance in the movie and in non-movie still shots. So, I decided to heck with it and just do an approximation.

Anyway, just uploaded it and hope yall enjoy it.

Now to figure out which paint scheme to do next.....

Willy,

One of my favorite flicks...the "4" paint job at the beginning of the film is essentially the "City of Springfield," just re-badged. :very_drunk:

The one that was used in the film was made in the 70s I believe. Seems they had the idea that if they built one with longer wings and fuselage, then it would have better flying characteristics. From what I hear, people who have flown it think they probably just made it worse. It's now in a flight museum up in Washington state. They did a temporary re-paint in this scheme on it for the final scenes of it's taxiing up the road. If you look close, you can tell it's a little longer.

From having looked at pictures of both Model Z replicas (Kermit Weeks has one that was built to original dimensions), I tend to think that Alabeo made theirs mostly from the Weeks one. At least he occasionally takes his out for engine run ups and once in a while takes it up.
