Guys

Rob of Fly Free STD, is the person behind the excellent RWD-13/13S and Bartel freeware classics and a whole fleet of payware modern day fighters and UAV’s. This time he has outdone himself with the release of the so far only FSX native Mig-29K & KUB multirole carrier fighters available in simmarket.

I've purchased the combo comprising the Mig-29K/KUB planes and the two carriers to operate them off.

The package is full-featured and the Mig-29 (K/KUB) models are graphically pleasing, very well-proportioned and detailed. Their cockpit is really good and accurately follows the published pictures of these fighters.
Systems wise the plane is full featured for navigation and training flights from both carrier and land bases. However, It badly needs a tacpack compatibility upgrade, to demonstrate their fighting abilities.

The unique "super maneuverability" flight dynamics is one of the reasons I've enjoyed FlyFree STD's previously released Russian jets. They offered the only way to virtually feel the high angle of attack & high agility gyrations about the aircrafts’ axes, that one can only see in YouTube videos. As far as I know, no other FSX plane provides this experience. The Mig-20K/KUB package continues this tradition and demonstrates again a unique slow speed/high angle of attack, even post-stall experience that is worth a try.

Had hoped a few larger developers would take on the Fulcrum, but these look good and I'm all for the Naval versions.

These models look good... but I agree they badly need Tacpack (and we need Tacpack to support russian weapons).

Very impressive video! With two carrier in the package. It's looking really good! But the FRS are a point to be considered! It's a heavy one in that aspect. I tried to evaluate the format of the textures, only to find these are in a place I havn't found yet......Edit: I noticed that the clean model has drastically better framerates than the armed versions! Better than most of my payware addons! But there's more: the electronic displays in the cockpit draw heavily on the frs, especially the map. But all in all Ï'm having a great time with this plane.

I think the Sukhoy 33 is an absolute gem! And the carriers are very, very nice!

I may have to get the MiG-29K/KUB package. I've always liked the Fulcrum, and the carrier models are really nice.
Cees, does the ski-jump takeoff work like you'd expect?

Yes it does, though I had the blocking of the wheels releasing a bit too early on several occasions. If you're in for carriers, all in all this is a great addon.

I find both packages very well worked. Both models are nice inside and out and the carriers are good as well. It is the uniqueness of Mig-29K/KUB for FSX that made me posting the screenshots at the start, however Cees has completed the picture with the Su-33 ones.

My first product from Rob was the Su-37 with which I've enjoyed performing extreme agility maneuvers, and if I'm not mistaken they are not possible with any other FSX jet so far. With the release of these two new packages (Su-33 & Mig-29K/KUB) I believe FlyFree STD is up with the best standards of current FSX modeling. I've communicated with Rob and he is very moderate about his work, so some good and honest "appraisal" from this community of enthusiastic FSX warbirds creators and lovers, is actually strongly encouraging for further good releases.

When Dino Cattaneo gives a thumbs up for these planes, I think this says it all..

It looks like a very interesting package. I'm seldom interest in Russian jets, but the shape of the Mig-29K/KUB and the Indian connection are tempting me :-) I'll see when the Viggen project is finished.
