Do we uninstall the original first, or install over it?

Definitely un-install the original before using the new installer.

Disable the mirrors by using the no mirror model.

How to disable the mirrors?

JohnC
March 16th, 2016, 14:57
In the aircraft.cfg's add the text '.NoMirror' to the model declaration:

[fltsim.X]
title=F14 A Tomcat [variant]
sim=Aerosoft F-14A P3D
model=90.NoMirror

Mmmmm. Doesn't work for me. Does this apply to all the models or just the 90's? The planes won't show after this declaration. :dizzy: An upgrade with a downfall of the framerates (pun intended) seems a waste of time and effort to me. Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, I appreciate the effort to take a model further and make it better, I really do. But in my case I'll uninstall and return to version 1.1, as I was perfectly happy with that version. :untroubled:

I'm wondering if the NoMirror mod is for the P3D version only? (I'm using FSXA). I have the same issue, drop in frame rates and the suggested mod cause the models to not show up in the aircraft selection screen. The drop in FPS is not horrific but certainly a lower than the previous version. Also, just to clarify, the new modeled in Afterburner feature (which moves during nose kneeling) is P3D only?

The no mirror version is P3D only

I just had a quick flight in P3D 3.2 last evening. The mirrors work nicely. I may agree to a hint of reduced FPS, but in general the sim is smooth with no stutters. I think the FDE is a bit less wobbly than before. In all it felt nice but I did not dig in deep.

P3D 3d water compatible wakes are a big plus for me!

A comment about FPS Cees, on my rig there is minimal if any hit on FPS. Granted I have a high end system. To help solve the problem I recommend posting the problem on the Aerosoft support website. They have a great team that developed this beauty. I purchased the original and that F-14 also had minimal if any impact on FPS. There is no difference in the original and Extended on my setup.

Cees out of curiosity, what processor do you use? There were two major changes that should have a net neutral effect on frames from a computational perspective.

[Good] Using this document (http://www.agner.org/optimize/instruction_tables.pdf) as a guideline, some 100-200 mathematical operations were simplified or optimized to reduce processor load.

[Bad] I haven't quantified, but 'a bunch' of new custom variables were added for some of the new radar features.

In addition to both of those, one of our main dll's was cleaved into three different dll's because it (the v1.1 version) was trying to cram too many sequential computations into a single simulation cycle. With the current version, there should be much more parallel processing...which would see increasing benefit with increasing CPU core count.

Beautifull machine!:redfire:

But I cannot retract my gear! :dizzy:

JohnC
March 17th, 2016, 19:14
Hrm, that is befuddling. For all the custom systems, the landing gear is about as stock as anything comes. I don't think there is any failure mode that could cause a stuck gear unless they went overspeed (~275KIAS).

JohnC
March 18th, 2016, 06:11
PS: Thinking about it a little more. There is a gear lever lock switch just to the left of the lever, if that was accidentally flipped when you were trying to click the lever, then it might explain why it was stuck.

Had the same issue yesterday with the throttle levers. Engine power was increasing but levers not moving. Reloaded FSX and everything was working...

Just had a little succesfull flight from Bremen to Hamburg and now everything seems to be Ok.

Really a great addon. :redfire:

is the serial number the same as the original install. I getting an error saying my email or serial# is wrong when i go to install it and I'm taking it right off the invoice email i got from aerosoft.
anyone else having that problem?

No I had no issues using my original serial number. The installer is case sensitive, check your mail address again maybe.

Yes, I triple checked the email,which was sent from Aerosoft with my paid receipt. Made sure I copied the serial number exactly off my receipt,(several times ) and still no joy. Now just waiting to hear back from Aerosoft support, hopefully they can find out what the problem is

When you copy your serial number make sure you are not copying a space when you do it. I think if you have the cursor ahead of the number by a space it will copy it.
That is what seemed to work for me

I did have the same problem. Check the product download page at your Aerosoft account. An updated serial would be there that should work. It did for me.

JohnC,

I saw on the Aerosoft F-14X Support Forum where you guys made another update and uploaded it on Friday. I uninstalled the 2.0 version and re-downloaded 2.1 and installed it. On my end the previous FPS drop issue is now gone and in general, the FPS stays near or at the target (32). Looking at what you guys changed I could not discern any specific point regarding FPS related items (for FSX) but again, there's a very noticeable different in the smoothness of FPS from this version and the first F-14X Extended release.

There was a pretty big section of C++ code that got whacked because it was unnecessary from a user perspective (a development codeset that was used to monitor controller performance). It's definitely possible that it was eating up some processing power or hooking into the sim in a manner that slowed things down.

enjoying the f14 extended, great job by the developers.

just uploaded the vc night light mod to aerosoft's lib http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/files/file/3822-aerosoft_f14_vcnightlightzip/

I downloaded the F-14X Extended version 2.1. However, I am only getting between 10-20 fps (which is considerably under what I got with my previous F-14X version). I have a very strong computer (Intel i7-4960X 6 core 4.1 GHz and Nvidia GTX Titan Z with GDDR5). Is there any mitigation for this unsatisfactory loss of fps?

I have reported this to Aerosoft.

Hopefully you can get satisfaction from the support forum. I was going to suggest if you were using P3D v3, try the 'NoMirror' model option. I gained at least 10 fps without mirrors (I presume this is a setup specific scenario, since apparently not everybody sees this). Without mirrors in P3D and in FSX Gold, my fps is very acceptable (smooth and high 20s plus) in areas of moderate scenery complexity.

I'm running this in P3D V3, but figured this side gets more traffic.

I reinstalled the Tomcat X and started up on the runway at Fallon. Just wanted to test it out after a long time away.

Anyhow, I noticed I couldnt trim off the nose up attitude of the jet. Flaps were up, wings out, but it still wanted to climb. Swept the wings and same results. Did I miss a switch?

Also, is there a low-viz VF-1 Wolfpack repaint anywhere?

Prior to takeoff are your trim gauges by your virtual left knee zeroed out?

For VF1 low vis, maybe a request over at Groom Lake sims on facebook

This climb attitude is normal, as the developers stated on the AS forum.
