I fly way too little these days. When I do, I usually use one of these: QW Avro/RJ, DC-3 by Manfred Jahn :applause:, C185 or A36 by Carenado. What I would like to have (in order to fly more...) is a high wing non-taildragger (C172, C182?) for better visibility. I am not willing to pay what A2A asks, no matter how good their Cessnas are. So, please, tell me what would be the second best option for me?

Piglet's OV-10 has rather good visibility and is interesting to fly. It's not quite a Cessna, mind you, but is a current favourite of mine.

Kiki,

Maybe look at Carenado's Cessna 172, 182, 182RG, 150 or even Alabeo's C172RG Cutlass II, C177 Cardinal II or C207 Skywagon. The latter being quite nice models.

I hope this helps?

Cheers,
Tim.

Carenado 337 maybe?

I'd probably go with the Carenado 337 too. While I have around 85% of what Carenado have produced, I only have the B200 and 337 installed at the moment and the 337 is the only one I always have installed. Lovely model, great sounds and it goes like stink. It often appears in sales too which is when I got mine:encouragement: Quite a few repaints for it but not as many as the others (though you'd not expect there to be).

Just Flight did a rather nice free Cessna 152, which I still enjoy a lot. I think it is still available if you subscribe to their newsletter.

Pannon Wings Design Team Zlin Z-142 and Z43 are very nice freeware aircraft - although low wing - search avsim.
Craig Richardson may have something for you over at http://www.classicwings.net/.

Carenado's Cessna 206 is my favorite high wing. Multiple options, including a cargo pod, wheel spats, amphib version.

I have had quite a bit of low & slow in this one from OzX.

The A2A Cessna C172R Skyhawk and C182T Skylane, Carenado CT206H Stationair HD and C337 Skymaster all get plenty of my flight time around Australia.
I do like the C377 Skymaster as it is quick and a twin, very useful flying the Outback.
Looks good as well.

Carenado C337, Carenado 206, Alabeo 207, Alabeo Cessna 195. Those are all great high wing planes. Don't completely count out A2A Cessnas though. Sometimes they go on sale. That's how I got the A2A Cherokee and C182...for $15 less than regular price

Absolutely in love with Carenado 207 and 152. I have flown both in RL and find them to similar in flight characteristics. If I had the money I would get the A2A 172

As real as A2A and cheaper; Aerosoft Wilga, Dornier Do27 and Bronco.

Thanks everyone. :encouragement:So many options, Cessnas and non-Cessnas. Hmmm...

172 Rg, 337, 206, 207 - it's a hard choice, which might have been best simulated? 150/152 might be to slow for me. 177 don't have any kind of autopilot, does it.

OV-10, Zlin, Auster, Tri Pacer...Perhaps... Offerings from Aersoft are great, but I'll exclude traildraggers.

That still leaves me quite many great options.:untroubled:

I love the Seabird Seeker; great airplane. Just wish the chap who'd done it had included a pilot figure; looks so odd flying about without one.

As for a high wing Cessna, the Carenado C-152 is very good, as is Didier Lagaffe's C-150L and C-150K. For a comparable low wing aircraft my personal favourite is Alabeo's Piper PA38 Tomahawk II; very nicely modeled.

That's my two cents...

It looks like I will go with OV-10 or one of the Cessnas.

there are not too many civilian repaints for the OV available, though.

How would you comment these?

If none of the above won't come for sale, I might do just that. It sure looks promising and can't be far away from the release.

The Just Flight JF Insider Cessna 152 which I suggested earlier, with a repaint:

Yes, I agree...., but if you stay in the cockpit, 'where ever you go there you are' ! + it is free and has an autopilot.

I will add the Carenado Cessna CT210 Centurion to the list as well, also because it is the only high wing Cessna I have... :biggrin-new: It is a fun aircraft though with the ability to go a bit higher and faster than the regular 172,182 or 206.

And if you want something to go low and slow, have great visibility and it doesn't have to be a Cessna, you can't beat the free Classic wings Edgley Optica:
