Hello,

Is this the one with the enhanced texturing with diffuse alpha enabled for better reflectivity?

Best regards Dag

Hi,

Both the updated version of the product and the Tacpack version have one livery that Rick "enhanced" to be super shiny.

Thank you.

Hello,

just bought the plane with the discount: EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE but every time I choose the plane FSX crashes.

Installed as administrator, run FSX ad administrator and even changed the Milviz_F86CL.dll with the "old problems-free" downloaded from milviz forum............:banghead:

The TacPack-ed version of aerosoft F-14 works fine; suggested solutions? even on milviz "private" forum?

Thank you

DISREGARD - SOLUTION FOUND: the installer does not create the "milviz" folder in FSX:encouragement:

Thanks Kat! This is what I call outstanding customer service - I received an email with a download link to the new installer which is much more user friendly than the cumbersome Flight 1 wrapper I got when I purchased the Sabre.

Does this one use dx10 lighting as well?

Could you perhaps elaborate a bit, Ian? What file should be created and how can one create it if it is not already there? A ask because the MilViz F-15E is giving me the - apparently - same problem. Or do you mean that the MilViz folder is created outside the FSX directory?

The old F86 installer created a folder in fsx called"milviz", inside there was the .ini file for the plane
Now the installer does NOT create the same folder, so you have to create it
Just create a folder called "milviz" in fsx root directory and the SIM won't crash anymore
Now, if i could load some weapons.......sorry still unable:the weapons don't load.....:dizzy:

Thanks, Ian, another trick ready in case of trouble!
Weapons: does the loading window not appear or does it not work?
Do you have TacPac installed? In P3D V3.1 (no TacPac yet) I also could not get the windows to appear. Is this edition perhaps only usable if you have TacPac?

Thank you

Does anyone know how you get rid of the previous version? With other MV products I have, you run the installer and it comes up with an uninstall option. I don't see this with the F-86 (R1_1).

I did not un-install the R1 version, just installed V4 on top of it and everything works fine (FSX-SE, no TP). You could remove the old files manually although I do not think it makes sense, the following folders contain the MV Sabre files:

.\Effects best is to leave these files untouched, they are also used by V4 160122
.\Milviz\F86 see previous comment
.\Simobjects\Airplanes\Milviz F-86
.\Simobjects\Misc\MILVIZ_F86_Bombs_JETT
.\Simobjects\Misc\MILVIZ_F86_Rockets_JETT
.\Simobjects\Misc\MILVIZ_F86_Tanks_JETT
.\Sound\Milviz\ files SND100.wav -SND110.wav + SND50.wav - leave these files untouched, they are also used by V4 160122 and possibly by other Milviz products
.\Sound\Milviz\F86

Nice work here. A question not to cause a controversy, but wouldn't it be better to just go with DCS for munitions simulation?

An answer not intended to cause controversy, but DCS "World" is a misnomer... FSX really does cover the world. :adoration:

Seriously, that's one reason. Availability of aircraft is another. TACPACK is a pretty limited combat simulation, which cannot compete with the depth of DCS, but it allows people to use a lot more aircraft, over a lot more planet, using a sim they already have.

Hi,

There are many reasons for us not working with ED on a DCS project. None of them can be stated in public with the exception of this one: DCS only has one area that would be considered a combat area. Nevada, though filled with more guns and weapons than Georgia, doesn't have SAM's. Mig's and Sukhoi's all over the place.

Tacpack allows us to fly/fight anywhere in the world in MP which, given that it's much easier for us to develop for, is where we will, for the moment, stay.

Thank you.

Kat.

edit: IanP said it very clearly.

... but the new BIG market and new sim haters :biggrin-new: .

Btw. but the serious reason is to have missions, campaignes, very good performance (in DCS 1.5. and in 2.0 - Im very nice surprised, is the long way for FSX and P3D to have this performance like in DCS 1.5).
I agree about the maps but remeber about the new one (excluding Georgia and Nevada NTTR map) - Ormuz and Normandy'44 and new carriers. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/screenshots/665/

Id like to see MV in DCS too with this strange Eagle Dynamics policy sametimes ; ) in the one day, +1. :wavey:

I'll gladly fly with someone in some mock combat trials if you'd like to see how 'unfulfilling' this bird is to fly with tacpack! Lol. Its great fun guys! And we have the whole.planet to use! Lots of what if scenarios...can use all kinds of aircraft especially the cold war stuff....would love to fly a mock engagement with B-58s and Hun escorts! (When the Hun is released) 2 of my favorite aircraft. Can be done in ta pack and Fsx/p3dv2. And honestly v2.5 MP is twice as smooth as FSX IMHO.

I advice FSX@War also to setup targets :) but never I tasted it in MP.

I meant...WE are the targets! No need for AI drones... We would be doing 1v1/2v2 in Sabres. Then people can see how much fun Tacpack really is!

Hi,

Make a directory in the root of your sim with the name Milviz. That should do it.

Thank you

Well I've had loads of fun in this F-86 TacPack already - without going into TacPack mode and blowing stuff up. Milviz, you did quite good.

Taken the Sabre out and did a successful in-air restart... some cross-countries up and down Washington State & Oregon (like KUIL to KSLE, KBVS to KHIO). It's hard when there's no autopilot to... auto-trim out the airplane, but that's part of the fun. If I wanted to program a jet computer and just worry about terrain avoidance, I'd just fly my beloved Superbug some more.

My main criticisms - hopefully constructive - would be the stock liveries need an explanation of their place in history please, the Huff dragon livery needs to reappear, and the basic manual could have a bit more data.

3.8 hours later in the Sabre, I love this thing. It's addictive. Like the little jet sportster with a big wing... you just want to learn more about how to program FSX right and to fly it right (the forums here were a big help).

I've got assurances the livery I want will be coming, so that'll be even more fun acting like a Planes of Fame demo. Excited.

Here's a few FSX screenies with Real Environment Extreme effects for ya of how much FUN this airplane is.

Dunno if the question was rethorical, but the "ship" on the tail suggest 434 squadron.

Can anyone perhaps enlighten me and my gunsight? For the life of me, I cannot get the gunsight to switch on. I assume it has to be the switch near the knob to adjust the target wingspan, but nothing happens when I press it or rotate it…

Round knob just left of the wing-span lever. Left-click and drag right.

Thanks, n4gix, but the dimmer does not do anything; clicking, dragging, rotating the mouse wheel, nothing helps... Either I am doing something wrong or I will have to submit a support ticket with MilViz.

Check if the pipper appears after you made the first radar contact with a target, even a dive to the ground may work. If not I would also suggest to open a ticket with Milviz.

Try pressing "Y" briefly on then off. The pipper may well be out of the gunsight window's area.

Hello Dimus and n4gix,
I was away for work but now got the chance to try out your suggestions. No luck yet.... Next step is installing the newest nvidia drivers. Will get back if and when I find a solution. Thanks for your efforts!
