An interesting choice of project but not one for me I'm afraid. I have the Glowingheat model and have only flown it twice. It cost a lot less than $50 too;)

I'll certainly be very interested in this as well once it comes out.

As for Area 51, there are many freeware versions available and I've tried them all. I've found the best one to be by Fernando Angel Gonzalez. A good match with the aerial photos of the base and no silly UFOs on show anywhere.

The new FTX Southern California covers it too.

Sure about that? Their coverage map does not show it.

Sure. The file is ar51-area_51_fsxtreme.zip (http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=copyright&fid=176601) at flightsim.com.

Enjoy

Blue Sky Scenery's photoreal coverage also ends just short of it. Shame.

Well, ORBX Scotland covers Macrihanish but there never was anything there in the US half of the field. Nothing at all, officer. Definitely not.

Oh my poor credit card...

Area 51 wasn't there either - or so they tell us.

Its not an MFD in the modern sense. Its the view screen for the camera directly beneath yhe plane for the WSO to use to find POI, fixes, can zoom etc. In order to aid in that process. Large window is the route of flight navigation display, and i believe it folds down to reveal the radar image display...

Yes. I believe you can also have it in "opposite-of-white", noir or schwartz.

So many myths and legends, but the SR-71 was built and flown from Palmdale California, not Area 51. Area 51 was used as the test site for the Lockheed A-12, the SR's Mach 3 father which I have in development myself. No direct links as I don't want to tread on their thread.

I hope Milviz won't mind me saying as I'm sure your beta testers will notice, but the SR only had a 3 number serial on the nacelles.

Looking impressive! :ernaehrung004:

Also... don't forget the Lockheed "YF-12A", a high altitude, high speed interceptor. It carried 4 air to air radar guided (I believe) missiles in internal bays under the fuselage and had a highly advanced digital radar tracking system. Very similar to the SR-71 and the A-12 in shape. (Maybe the YF-12A was re-designated as A-12), I don't know a lot about the plane tho... I think the whole project was canned due to cost over-runs, delays in testing and someone finally deciding that such a wicked aircraft was really not needed. A "Tac-Pac" version with working radar for flight simulator... just say'n.

The screens of that SR-71 look amazing tho...

The YF-12A carried only 3 missiles - these missiles were further developed into the Phoenix for the F-14. A-12 came first (including M-21/D-21), followed by the YF-12 and then SR-71. YF-12 and SR were used as a cover for the still secret A-12 which saw operational service over South East Asia before early retirement in 1968.

I particularly like the fact that Milviz is modelling the often asked for RSO cockpit.
