FSX Scenery--Town Of Paris - France. It covers about 140 km2 and also includes the towns around in the west, and the business area of "La Defense". It's apparently compatible with Prepar3D. By Marc Guitteny.

Wow! The default FSX Paris was a good effort, but it was lacking in a lot of ways as well. This looks amazing!

This is an amazing scenery! Thank you for the hu!

So far I have just slewed around to browse the sights. I intend a low helo flight soon and I'll report on the FPS. Slewing in the trike was quite smooth.

Birdseye view of Notre Dame

All in all, frame rates seem very tolerable,my low-end rig cranks this scenery out just fine.
Congratulations and Merci Beaucoup to Marc G for a real gift to the community-- v1.1 is in the works too!

Here is a zip with 3 helipads for this wonderful Paris scenery: 33797

These are: Montparnasse helipad, Bercy rooftop, Issy-les-Moulineaux heliport. This is just for fun, and a temporary solution while waiting for Marc's Paris v1.1.

Nice but I don't see Eiffel tower (for example) and any autogen at all ? Yes I did with the 2 autogen files like it was told in the readme files. Sim is FSX Accelerator.

At the bottom I have Orbx Global Base, Global LC Europe and Global Vector and Global FreewareX Mesh (installed a couple of weeks ago). Could those give some impact on this because after installing those Orbx sceneries (and freeware mesh) objects have disappeared from some freeware sceneries too. All payware shows up normally.

Tha autogen does not show unless you replace the Materials.spb and the Extrusions.spb with the new ones created by the installer in the same folder. I have the exact same configuration and got it working in FSXSE.

As for FPS, I took a ride in the Milviz 530 chopper and it was struggling at 15-18 FPS with full autogen but stutter free. My current specs are:
Gigabyte Z97 gaming mobo
Intel i7-4790K 4.0Ghz
16GB RAM DDR3
Nvidia 970GTX

Also running DX10 with the fixer.

I will also try this in P3D v3.0 as well as other planes and/or somewhat reduced graphics settings

Please note that as soon as you use ORBX's "FTX Central" tool, for whatever purpose, you have to manually repeat this file replacement process. ORBX is forcing it's autogen definitions as soon as you apply an ORBX region, and overwrite Paris's custom autogen. It's a known issue, and the developper is considering using the "Autogen Configuration Merger (http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forums/autogen-configuration-merger.147/)" tool by Arno to avoid this...

I have decent FPS with my barely adequate laptop. But I moved real low the autogen slider to "sparse", and reduced to minimum the "Level of detail" : not much impact on downtown Paris (a bit less trees), the real impact is outside of Paris, but it's ok as long as you avoid the suburbs! Not politically correct, but it works...

To really improve the FPS, disabling AI is a must, and disabling the 3 big Paris airports (Orly, Roissy CDG, and Le Bourget) could be an option (but I have no idea how to exclude or simplify default airports).

I did replace those (as I mentioned perhaps a little indistinctly) but don't see any autogen buildings there. I though see other famous buildings (specially put in the scenery) except 'la tour Eiffel' there.

I don't use dx10 if that has got something to do with this?

That must be the reason. I'll try once again. Thanks.

I ran Orbx FTX Central tool to ensure that autogen was FTX style.

Then I changed the two files in autogen folder as told in Paris readme.

Started flying FSX at Paris airport. Same result. No autogen at all and no Eiffel tower.

Checked once again that the autogen files Materials.spb and Extrusions.spb ware the same that came with the Paris package.

...Same result. No autogen at all and no Eiffel tower....

A fix for this autogen issue is available since yesterday. Now Orbx and Paris autogen are merged at FSX startup. It works fine with my setup. Sometimes a popup tells you you need to restart FSX to see the merged autogen (in case it changed, because you used FTX Central, or installed a new scenery). Well it's a bit annoying, but it's a really a small price to pay to fly over this wonderful scenery!

Paris scenery with patch v1.05 here (http://marcoh.gratisim.fr/paris_en.html). Nord 3400 by Restauravia here (http://restauravia.fr/html/creations_fsx.html) (very convenient to fly low and slow, with a French "Cub" and a French repaint).

As for your missing Eiffel tower, can't tell... It's a default FSX object, so this means it's in "Western Europe" in your base scenery folder (F:\Flight Simulator X\Scenery\EURW\)... Check your scenery.cfg file, maybe EURW is disabled or missing...

If it is in the file Paris.bgl the file is there in the folder ...\scenery\EURW\ . This folder EURW is also in the scenery.cfg list.

I did see the Eiffel tower before I installed Orbx sceneries (before those I had UTX and GEX Europe which I removed) but can't say if the tower disappeared before or after installing this Paris scenery because I noticed the disappearing just after installing Paris scenery. On Paris I have (Aerosoft) payware airports LFPG and LFPO which are still OK. On Le Bourget there is default airport without any objects (just afcad is to be seen). I don't remember if that has been so from the very beginning of installing FSX. I have also noticed some objects disappearing (from some freeware sceneries only - payware is ok) after installing Orbx.

You should try disabling momentarily your Aerosoft Paris airports sceneries, to see if your Eiffel tower reappears... I suspect there is an "exclude" file somewhere, possibly in these Aerosoft sceneries... ORBX shouln't have any impact on Paris default objects...

This scenery is just phenomenal! I've been really enjoying the experience of exploring the city from the air and searching out all of the familiar landmarks and museums. The detail is really quite mind-boggling.

What is this Paris scenery's impact on memory (RAM)? My FSX reserves already about 350 GB on HDD and it runs near the 4 GM (RAM) boarder. Perhaps this is why FSX won't still load autogen at all on this scenery (because it would cause OOM)? Just a thougt.

OOM is VAS, not RAM.

Sorry my unpunctuality. My for a 32 bit program FSX reserved 4GB (Virtual Address Space) is running out. I have 16GB of RAM. That has been enough so far. :biggrin-new:

It was some kind of memory problem. I installed Scenery Config editor, grouped continents and some countries where I have more sceneries. Leaving off not necessesary parts I saw all objects of this Paris scenery and Eiffel tower too. Memory consumption is still heavy and fps around 10-15.

Thank you for posting a link to the Nord 3400 in this Paris Scenery Thread. I have downloaded it and am really enjoying flying it. It is an exceptional model. The night lighting in the virtual cockpit is outstanding.
