Here is the site; http://www.roychaffin.com/rcs-panels.html

That one was done by simonu. It's not in the library anymore.
Lost during hack attack?

I have it. Send me a pm with email.

Dave,

It's not in the library. Why don't you upload it, and I'll put it under Simon's name.

While trying to change the textures on this model (It is Australian not Canadian) to American (Star with red ball). I found that the windows went from clear to a hazy green. I found a download that had this insignia, but it was transparent, when I changed it to 16 bit, the windows became hazy green. There is no glass texture (separate) for this model. Can one be added? Is this correctable? If so how?

The glass transparency is done by the texture it self. The green-ish square is made transpart with an alpha layer. Because of this the only way to have transparency that isn't fully clear is to use the DXT3 format.

It looks like MDLMat.exe dosn't have transparency option. They only ways to to change the model is to SCASM edit the model or fully rebuild it in gMax using Model Convert X to rip the model in to a .3ds.

I could to the gMax rebuild (rebuilding and fully de-mirroing would be best) but I'm full right now.I have the Hu-16 for the Vietnam for CFS2 project and a MC-200 for Rami and ships for Maxstuka.

Thanks Allen

I know you are busy and thanks for the expertise. I notice the same problem with other conversions of the DC-3. I kind of suspected it had something to do with the alpha layer.

Hi Mack,

You can get the alpha layer from one of the textures in the original simonu download from Douglas_DC3_1_T.bmp.

Using Martin's DXT.bmp, open this texture and export the alpha.
Open the new texture and import it to that one. Do this by using the green and blue arrows. Save as DXT3.

I gave up on the idea of rebuilding the FS2004 DC-3. Just to much work to me but I did start rebuilding the CFS2. C-47. The exterior changes don't look like much. The interior I cheated and took the FS2004 DC-3 cockpit.

Kool!!!

I think the OH model is great. I never saw a reason to go beyond it. Nothing wrong with a little update.

Hey Allen while you're at it, Make a new "Spooky" for the Vietnam Project. Stick the 40mm out the side.

I more or less fine with the OH C-47 as well but for the VC. I guess I can look into the AC-47.

Can't find that a AC-47 ever had a 40mm...

I could have sworn it had a 40mm and 2 minis. Oh well I guess I have it confused with another Gun ship.

My looking says that 40mm where fitted to the early AC-130s after the NVA started hulling up larger AA and the AC-130s need something that could out range the AA guns.

There is a good article on the AC-47.

Atleast I liked it.

I actually made one out of the first player flyable C-47 way back when. Its on my old computer (maybe). I did a panel so you could fire out the side. It was rather crude but it worked. No VC on that one.
