Came across this page from a you tube behind the scenes air to air photo shoot:
http://www.jessicaambats.com/

Not really proper wallpaper sized photos (probably by design) but incredible shots in the photo gallery... if you love aviation pics, go there!

You can right click on any of the images and choose 'Copy Image' (to clipboard). Then open graphic edit program (IrFanview is my fav) and 'Paste' it in there. Then 'Image/Re-Size..' then look on right and find 'Best Fit to Desktop' and then click Save and give it a name. While you have the image you can go to 'Option/Set As Wallpaper/Stretched' and you will have it as your wallpaper (until the next pic comes along..ha).

Thanks, ya I'm aware of that... but the image quality is lost of course... what I meant is the native resolution is pretty small on her site.

If you really want a close in-flight pair of aircraft you won't go past these 2....;)

Thank you Ryan for the link!!! So I'm sitting on the couch watching T.V. with my wife perusing the airplane photos on my iPad, my wife is chuckling AT me for looking at porno for flight simmers.

Then we are LOL this morning at Chuck B's comment...

Love this hobby!!!

Thank you Ryan for the link! I of course love all of the Mustang shots. This one in particular I thought was neat, and illustrates the comfort-level that these highly experienced pilots have flying close formation - note Ed Shipley's hand off of the throttle in order to block the sun: http://www.jessicaambats.com/Portfolio/airplanes/i-bFmN8jC

When it comes to air-to-air photography, it's hard to beat the legend that is John Dibbs, and I often find myself going over his photos to find inspiration for screenshot compositions:

What Ed Shipley is doing is no big deal - he's probably controlling the throttle with his right hand and steering with his knees.

Sorry, just kidding.

Yeah Jim, either that or he's got the throttle with his elbow. ; ) Most in-cockpit videos I've seen from formation flying, the pilot is almost always working the throttle.

Another air-to-air photographer legend is of course Philip "The Ghost" Makanna: https://www.facebook.com/ghostsaviation?fref=ts

I spoke with Jessica earlier this year, regarding some other projects of mine. She really is an excellent photographer, and aviator to boot.

With all of the add-ons and DX10, FSX does really well with screen shots. Low sun angle, and tight crops.

That is an old plane and back then they had old cameras so that was it as far as res was concerned. Just pretend the pic was taken with a Kodak (like I used to have) and not a Minolta. So that looks 'real' (or should). You want video game res? Not real.

Speaking of air-to-air photography, the Erickson Aircraft Collection has been hosting their second annual "Madras Air2Air X" event this weekend, with the amazing air-to-air photography professionals, Lyle Jansma, Scott Slocum, and Philip Makanna, leading an instructional program in air-to-air photography aimed at getting skilled photographers experience in the craft, that otherwise would not have the opportunity. Last year, the first time the event was held, one of the unique air-to-air photo opportunities was to photograph the EAC P-51 and Fw-190 flying together and the EAC Corsair and Wildcat flying together (among others). This year, the unique pairings include the EAC P-38 together with the CAF's A6M Zero and the EAC P-38 together with a T-33. I believe that today one of the featured aircraft will be the EAC's P-47 "Hairless Joe", and as the photos show in the links below, another has been EAC's PBY.

Here's the report from today: http://www.warbirdsnews.com/warbirds-news/day-2-madras-air2air-experience.html
