so i never fly the default 747, but last night i was going to mess around and do some bad weather ifr stuff in it. no natter what skin i chose, only the blank white one comes up. has this happened to anyone else? how to fix?

i checked the aircraft cfg, and it appears to be in order. the texture files are there as well. anyone?

Did you select the white livery first?

Several defaults suffer from this behavior, once you select the white livery you are stuck with it until you restart FSX.

This shows up with AI also, if the white livery is around, they all are white regardless of the livery called in the traffic file.

cheers,
Lane

that must be what i did, because just after reading your post i went in and selected the boeing livery, and it came up just fine.
thanks!

off topic but look for the VC upgrade on flightsim.com, its makes the default VC a little better, theres one for the 737 and 319/20

There is a fairly straightforward fix for this, caused by Microsoft
adding an aircraft repaint to the common texture folder in all the
default aircraft.
I can post it if you wish.
On the other hand, if you never fly them....

Pretty simple fix...

Make a copy of the texture folder.

Rename it texture.white

Edit the relevant aircraft.cfg entry from texture= to texture=white.
