Love that headline. It just "broke apart", just like that. Didn't have any help from a ^%$#%$% "salvage" crane or anything...

That's just a damn shame, wasting a good airplane like that!

The PBY has a designed single lift point. They didn't use it. It broke. Idiot's ruined an irreplaceable aircraft

I get a feeling that one-sided issuing of the "idiot" card is a bit too easy to tackle this issue. Wouldn't it be the aircrew's or owner's responsibility after all to inform the salvage crew about what can and can't be done with the airframe?

The movie's premise and cast...oh dear. They just needed an excuse for another "man vs shark" movie, right?
I bet Nicholas Cage makes a heroic, final sacrifice while Tom Sizemore dies in the last third of the movie. Or Sizemore saves Cage at the cost of his life. Mark my words!

If they need to cast a smooth, villainous, money-grabbing head of the salvage firm, what's the betting it's a Brit?

I probably was too harsh. I'm just frustrated every time I read anything about this incident. There are those that work so hard to restore these magnificent planes, through blood and sweat. Then when something like this happens it negates all the work that went into keeping it in the air. Like I said, I was a little harsh and I apologize to whomever didn't deserve to called an idiot. I just wish it didn't happen
