Nothing new, the newest Xbox does exactly that and the latest smart TVs do that. It is to allow voice commad. All the smart phones.......them to. Get out your tinfoil hat and stop believing everything you see on the Internet, 99% of it is BS.

The only browser that guarantees your anonymity and does not spy on you is called Tor.

The only thing you have to do is to not install any plugins like flash or have other networked programs running while you run it.

These sites (if they themselves are correct) imply it's not Google covertly listening, but rather others corrupting the software to do the listening after you thought you had turned it off. Not defending Google and it's sometimes slimy activities but they do need to get this fixed.
