Description: "Wave After Wave" Mission Pack for Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2
================================================== ====================

Overview
--------
This pack consists of a complete set of "competition style" missions for Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 in which you destroy increasing waves of enemy aircraft.

Mission Summary
---------------
Destroy all waves of enemy aircraft!

Mission Objectives
------------------
There are a total of five separate waves of enemy aircraft included in each mission, with increasing numbers and skill levels. Your goal is to simply see how far you can advance within the missions, and how many kills that you can attain... destroying wave after wave of enemy aircraft!

NOTE that these missions are DESIGNED TO BE PLAYED with Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 configured for an "Overall Realism" of 100% (Hard)... including "Display Indicated Airspeed" enabled, "Auto-Rudder" (Auto Coordination) disabled, and "Auto-Mixture" (Fuel Mixture) disabled.

The missions will be QUITE A CHALLENGE when they are played configured with these settings... even for the BEST AND MOST EXPERIENCED Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 aces and pilots!

ALSO NOTE that you can select the aircraft that you wish to use in each mission BEFORE ACTUALLY STARTING the missions (hence the missions can be quite versatile for competition use).

Intelligence Report
-------------------
Radar reports that there are a total of five separate inbound waves of enemy aircraft that are approaching the airfield.

These five waves of highly aggressive enemy aircraft squadrons consist of the following number of aircraft and pilot skill levels:

Wave One = 1 Enemy Aircraft piloted by a Rookie.
Wave Two = 2 Enemy Aircraft piloted by Rookies.
Wave Three = 3 Enemy Aircraft piloted by Veterans.
Wave Four = 4 Enemy Aircraft piloted by Veterans.
Wave Five = 5 Enemy Aircraft piloted by Aces.

NOTE that these missions will be UNWINNABLE for MOST Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 pilots (when the game is configured for an "Overall Realism" of 100%)! This is how the missions have been designed, as your goal is to simply see how far you can advance within the missions.

You're welcome, and I'm glad you liked it :) The birth of this was simply my CFS2 buddies and I wanting some sort of "offline competition" type of thing. Also, we've recently been playing with 100% realism for the game (including our multiplayer sessions)... the mission pack is great practice for that.

P.S. Another of my creations that you might like here (also includes a CFS2 mission) -> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?94401-Gilligan-s-Island-for-MSFS-and-CFS2&highlight=gilligan :)

CFS2 Wave After Wave Mission Pack.zip (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=43&linkid=19790) is are a very interesting way to flying this Sim. It will keep you on your toes. Its good practice for when you fly a pretend historical Mission. Thank you :jump:

BTW, a little something that is quite useful for these missions (as well as single missions and campaign mode as well): "CFO Weather 7.5.7" -> http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/Cfsops/Modules/cfo_weather/Cfo_Weather_75.htm .

This third-party add-on module for CFS2 adds a new menu in CFS2 with a bunch of new handy features. One of the things that the module adds to CFS2 is completely undocumented by the author... it displays "Kills/Score/Guns" values in the game's title bar when the game is run in a window.

The "Scores" value is quite handy for comparing scores with, and the feature functions when playing any single mission, OR a campaign mission :)

I was playing the "Wave After Wave - Player Verses A6M2 Zeros" mission that is included in my "Wave After Wave" mission pack.

I selected the "F6F-3 Hellcat" for my aircraft, and shot down FOURTEEN of the bastards!

I still had 115 rounds left in my moderately damaged (but STILL flying) aircraft, the last bogey was severely smoking, but he STILL managed to shoot me down <AARRGGHH>!

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I finally beat my "Wave After Wave - Player Verses A6M2 Zeros" mission. Although, two of the Zeros in Wave 5 crashed into each other after they spawned... hey, too freakin' bad, NOT my fault LOL! Instead of the F4U-1A Corsair I was flying the F6F-3 Hellcat (less ammo, but more punch), and finished in 23 minutes with about 600 rounds of ammo remaining :) Anyhow, if the two enemies hadn't crashed into each other, I probably COULD have finished the mission with 100% kills.

P.S. Man, that Hellcat sucks a lot of fuel during dogfights... 11% remaining after landing at the airstrip.

Again, sorry for bumping this thread, but:

I *FINALLY BEAT* my "Wave After Wave" mission pack for Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2, flying the mission's default F4U-1A Corsair against the A6M2 Zeros ("Wave After Wave - Player Verses A6M2 Zeros")!

Combat Flight Simulator 2 was configured for an "Overall Realism" of 100% (Hard)... including "Display Indicated Airspeed" enabled, "Auto-Rudder" (Auto Coordination) disabled, and "Auto-Mixture" (Fuel Mixture) disabled.

The mission took me almost 30 minutes, and with minimal damage to my aircraft. I ALSO successfully landed my aircraft back at the airfield WITHOUT warping or pressing "X" (as there was NO "X" key in a REAL World War II aircraft!), as well as completely powering down the engine, turning the fuel tank selector valve off, and setting the parking brake.

Final Mission Statistics:

Mission Time: 25 Minutes, 55 Seconds
Total Time: 32 Minutes
Kills: 15
Points: 4,900
Used Rounds: 2,238
Remaining Rounds: 112
Total Hits: 326
Weapon Accuracy: 15%

Quite a cool way to plot your kills, on Google maps :) After a battle, exit CFS2 and open up the generated "Events.log" file. Go to google maps (you'll need to be logged in to your Google account) at https://www.google.com/maps , click the triple bars at the top-left of the screen, click "Your Places", and then "Maps".

Click "Create Map", and in the search bar paste in the lattitude and longitude of each of the "lla=" entries from your "Events.log" file. Leave out the commas, and the elevation part designated with a plus sign.

e.g.

The line:

lla=N9* 28.67', E138* 5.76', +627

... paste in the Google maps search bar:

N9* 28.67' E138* 5.76'

... and click the search magnifying glass icon.

After the green location marker pops up, click it and then click "+ Add to map".

Do this for each of the kill locations, and you'll wind up with something like this -> https://www.google.com/maps/@9.5178457,138.0794724,25037m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!6m1!1s1HpXkzss7rcmvXmhZ3RJZg5dSN 6hrioYj ... quite cool :)

P.S. Shortly after my first win back in March, my buddy ALSO actually won the mission (F4U-1A Corsair against the A6M2 Zeros - "Wave After Wave - Player Verses A6M2 Zeros"). This is something that we had both had been regularly attempting (off and on) since I first released the mission pack back in 2015. Anyone else wanna get in on this "competition" LOL?
