How about an F/A-18 from Lemoore NAS to Fallon NAS... via Yosemite.

Have fun!

To answer the thread title question:
USN R2D-1 from San Luis to Point Mugu NAS.

Doesn't really match your subsequent criteria . . . :wiggle:

You're a lucky man. My great uncle flew P-51's in China. Got shot down and escaped and evaded with the help of the Communist Chinese. Got back to friendly lines the day they dropped the 1st A bomb. He's 91 years old still pretty spry. Going fishing with him in a couple weeks and will see him tomorrow on Memorial Day.

Please pass along my sincere thanks to your great uncle for his service during World War II. They were indeed the "Greatest Generation". Have a safe Memorial Day.

I've been flying around Laos a lot lately. With the new Freeware Mesh Asia the area looks quite authentic, and with real weather dialed in it is quite a challenge to negotiate your way to all the Lima sites (Xaviers Laos scenery).

Planes of choice are Ants T-28 (Raven FACs, Lao Air Force), Sibwings Bird Dog in Raven FAC livery, Piglets Turbo Porter Air America, Nemeth UH-1H in Air America livery, Nemeth Chinook, C-47 V2 in AA livery, C123K, CS C-130A, Miltons Beech D18 (C-45), and so on.

The list and the missions can be expanded when you fly into northern Laos from Udorn or Nakhon Phanom. F-100, F-4, F-105, Piglets great A1 Skyraider.

Cheers,
Mark

I must have been really bored yesterday (day off and the weather wasn't up to much). Been poodling around Egypt and the Med recently and yesterday, invested in Malta International v2 by Daniel Chircop. The airport itself is ok but Malta, like so many default islands is seriously poor. Grand Harbour isn't even there!!! Fortunately, you can download (for free) a couple of addon's from DC's site that bring the islands to life (new mesh, landclass, accurate coastlines and a host of other scenery). The downside is that they crucify my i5:banghead: You don't need the airport for these addon's to work which is kinda cool.
Yesterdays aircraft include RA Spit, Vertigo Bearcat, DG's Beaufighter, Nemeth/MV UH-1H, FS Sea Fury, Wozza's AT-6, WBS Mustang (Cat enabled), Piglets A-1H and the M2M Mirage for a blast from Sharm El Sheik across to Port Suez then up the Suez Canal to Port Said:encouragement:

Taking Concorde or the Tu-144 from LAX or SAN to Honolulu is always a fun flight, especially with mega-scenery. Really relaxing approach....

The Lao air force ground attack scheme is part of the T-28 D (payware) package, I believe.

Here's one flying through north Laos from LS20A to Vientiane during the early morning hours:

[Edit:] nice to see the Solomons are still used :-)

Hi Dave. I took a short trip around Malta with some Naval types, and it didn't look too bad. Freeware photo scenery and airport.

Hiya Den..

Can you point me in the right direction for that scenery please. DC's payware 'Luqa' isn't bad but as is the way with these things.. it's modern and there's almost nothing of the RAF side. TBH.. I'm not sure it was worth the asking price either:( As for their mesh/landclass e t c.. that was free so the price is right but it's a bit of a frame killer. The blurb says a lot of photo scenery was used but today.. I stumbled over a lovely freeware pack covering the whole of Egypt and many of the textures IT uses are also visible at Malta!! Been to Malta twice in the Navy.. once on Hermes and the second on Blake. No sign of St Angelo or much of the sandstone buildings I'm sure are still there in DC's freeware scenery. Still.. it was free so nothing lost;)

I recommend you seek out egypt_fsx.zip. It turns the whole country from desolation into something rather more interesting:encouragement:

My painting hand has definitely got a cramp so flying the Milviz P-38L over Nellis AFB. Such a pleasure to fly it is therapy for a cramped painting hand.

I am flying thru the Ventana Wilderness, from Big Sur to Morro Bay, at tree top, in/thru/out of canyons, at Mac 0.99 in the 'new' AirWolf 3' for FSX, Rebuilt By William Rogers modified (for FSX) by Mark Cranko. Handles surprising good for being a helicopter. See pics. Is at Simviation only (uploaded May 8, 2015).

I have Ant's D and I don't have the Lao scheme. I usually use the USAF SouthEast Asia camo version for flying out of L20A but the Royal Lao would be more correct.

Kudos today to the Hmong fighters and pilots for their valiant service.

I'm almost positively sure I didn't post-install any liveries. Basically, it is almost the same texture like the Raven FAC, which didn't show any national insignia at all. The Lao version has the small roundel on the side of the hull. The Raven and Lao FAC liveries for Ant's T-28D come in three versions, single, double (two persons in cockpit) and attack with ordnance. The texture name is just a 5 digit number, IIRC. I can check tonight.

Ditto on the Hmong fighters, like Lee Lue. I've read some amazing things about them in Robbins Raven FAC book.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Dave. I found the scenery on www.freewarescenery.com (http://www.freewarescenery.com) which is my first port of call when I'm looking for anything. A really great site and frequently updated. Choose FSX scenery and go to Malta. There is a link to Malta photoreal on Avsim. That's the one in my shots.

There's also a landable carrier in Grand Harbour. I also think it would be possible to pick out Strait Street. :dizzy:

Cheers Den:encouragement: I'd been on that site as the Malta landclass/coastlines was already highlighted (maltascenery.net).

By some strange coincidence, there's a flat top alongside in the freeware files at maltascenery.net too.. Malta XGen v1.1 and v1.2.. along with a lot of other stuff. Actually.. something has happened to my FSX install since I put Malta on. It must have changed a setting in the cfg as I get pretty bad stuttering everywhere now.:( Me thinks a new fsx.cfg is in order!!
