Thanks for the preview, Jan Kees! This must be the new Milviz external model/textures, and it is looking fantastic. I assume it is in beta now?

yes, the Milviz P-38L. They sent me an early version to play around with, and this is the (preliminary) result. I'm not sure how far they are in development, but it can't be far off.
We now have 11 texture files for the exterior alone, so the detail is fantastic! I'm still trying to figure out where all the bits and pieces are (as you can see on the tail for instance)
Of course I know Gentle Annie was really a J model, but I hope you'll forgive me.
This one is a J too btw:

Hi,

Just an FYI: the whole plane was redone texture wise and the VC had a major makeover to bring it up to today's standards.

The product will be released VERY soon.

Thank you.

Kat.

As I dig deeper into the P-38, I discover things I never knew, and so I have to go back and redo certain paints or parts thereof..

http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww230/jcblom60/P-38/ss16916.jpg (http://s722.photobucket.com/user/jcblom60/media/P-38/ss16916.jpg.html)
..things like the P-51-like filling and painting of parts of the wing...

http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww230/jcblom60/P-38/ss16912.jpg (http://s722.photobucket.com/user/jcblom60/media/P-38/ss16912.jpg.html)
..or the painting of the doors to the gun compartment..

http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww230/jcblom60/P-38/ss16909.jpg (http://s722.photobucket.com/user/jcblom60/media/P-38/ss16909.jpg.html)
..and the extensive wear on the serial from the exhaust gases..

http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/ww230/jcblom60/P-38/ss16922.jpg (http://s722.photobucket.com/user/jcblom60/media/P-38/ss16922.jpg.html)
..or the antiglare panel on the boom that extends partly onto the wing..

next up: painting part of the booms..

work in progress..

Beautiful! You just sold another one for Milviz.

Any chance you'll be doing Gentle Annie after it was repainted - like this?

Is it possible that one of the talented painters out there could do Thoughts of Midnight?

Jan, I am closing in on finishing Billy's Filly. Screen shots later today. This could give me something to do after that. The above fonts and nose art will really help. I had to almost completely remake the nose art for Billy's Filly. That almost took as much time as painting the aircraft.

Tom, if you are (hopefully) referring to Gentle Annie, here's a link (http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/9598/fsx-lockheed-p-38j-gentle-annie/) to the FSD version - which, I believe, is the distant momma to the Milviz:

The FSX files are available there for download (for possible font reference).

Fantastic references, thanks Jan for picture and Gene K for the reference. Had a some surgery today. I will get started as soon as I finish Billy's Filly (almost there). She is fun to paint.

I noticed that Jankees aluminum textures are brighter than the textures that came with the MV P-38L.

Apparently there is a noticeable difference in the various ext_specular files.

I was wondering if anyone was looking at "brightening" some of the stock textures??

No complaints as they all look fantastic, but I just like the shinier look as compared to the dull aluminum look.
