For the MTO installation i wish, if it is possible, a) eliminate the stock airbases for adding only MTO bases B) change the player default aircraft in qc_plane.qcb.

Any informations about are welcome.

Best regards.

Stockplane,

A) Yes.

B) Yes.

I'll see if anyone else wants to chime in, and then answer them more fully in the morning if someone else doesn't beat me to it first.

Stockplane,

Sorry, my friend. Busy morning, and I am headed off to a baptism and then the reception. I may be able to answer tonight, but it might not be until tomorrow morning. Not to worry, I will respond in detail if someone else doesn't beat me to it.

No problem Rami, isn't urgent.
Good job and good weekend.

Best regards.

Stockplane,

Okay. First, let's deal with the airbases.

To do as you desire, you will need two things. First, is this package from MaskRider's site: http://mask-rider.net/MaskRider2008/resources/lindsay_watts_cfs2_gsl_tutorial.zip

Rename the "empty" gsl to cfs2.gsl, and then overwrite the one in your sim in the GSL folder. This will eliminate any Pacific objects.

Then, go into the SCENEDB folder and find the afdfiles folder. Inside the "scenery" folder within the "afdfiles" folder, you will find the file cfs2afd.bgl file. Delete that, as well as any corresponding "filelist.dat" file you find.

Then, go back to the scenedb folder and go to the "runways" folder, and once again within the "scenery" folder, delete the "allrunways.bgl" file, along with any corresponding "filelist.dat" files.

You will then need to delete all of the PTO airbase.dat entries from your "airbase.dat" file, found in your "INFO" folder. The airbase IDs you need to delete are numbered 8000 thru 8050. (You can delete them all, and then we'll instruct you how to add them for the MTO when you ask.)

This is what an airbase.dat entry looks like...

[runway.0]
id=8000
name=Espiritu Santo
base_lat=S15 31.03
base_lon=E167 13.45
base_alt=68
heading=0
allegiance=0
units_across=2
takeoff_start_pos=-450,0
takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200
landing_start_pos=5000,350
landing_touchdown_pos=550,0
landing_stop_pos=-250,0

Just make sure to keep the "runway.0, runway.1, etc. numbers in sequence, otherwise this will give you fits flying missions or trying to find the airfields on a map!

I have to get ready for church, so I will answer the other question later this afternoon.

In the interim, this is the setup for the MTO. My apologies, it is a little complex: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=49&id=2932

Stockplane,

As promised, here is the second response. This is a little trickier.

1) The first thing you should do is make a backup of your mdlnames.txt file, then remove the aircraft names from the mdlnames.txt file that is not the backup. The reason for this is that if you remove the stock aircraft without doing this step, you will get those annoying messages saying that the sim cannot find "aircraft.x," because it is still being told to look for it.

2) The Quick Combat file will be easier to manage with this utility: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=49&id=17975

One strategy I used was to replace the Japanese aircraft in the Quick Combat file with German and Italian ones of like types.

Examples: Bf-109s and Fw-190s for the Zero and George, The Stuka in place of the Val, the He-111 in place of the Betty as a level bomber and a torpedo bomber.

3) However, a note of caution here...most of the aircraft in CFS2 when they are uploaded, if they do not have sound packs of their own, are aliased to the A6M2_Zero. This leaves you with two options...

1) Keep the A6M2_Zero in your AIRCRAFT folder.

2) Make sure, when you download an aircraft, to alias the sound to a different aircraft than the A6M2_Zero, because otherwise the aircraft will not show up in the sim or the mission.

I have try but in free flight appear as default always the first in the list.

Stockplane,

Certainly. Just manually edit it to the aircraft of your choice, you can edit the .qcb file like any text file. My default for the MTO is the Brunosk Spitfire Mk V.

By the way, this affords me the opportunity to remind you to always make a backup of any file you plan to edit. In this case, when you make a copy of the quick combat file, change the .qcb extension to .bak, that way you have a way to undo any damage you cause as you learn.

Yes Rami, always i make backup for all files before operate any modifications,and usually i edit the qc_plane.qcb
as many other files manually.

But probably i have not explay correctly my question:

a) i have modified the mdlnames.txt now the planes are

"A20B_HAVOC"=A-20B Havoc
"F4F3_WILDCAT"=F4F-3 Wildcat
"HE111H4"=He-111 H-4
"MC200_III"=MC-200 III Seatta
"MC200_VII"=MC-200 VII Seatta
"P38F_LIGHTNING"=P-38F-15 Lightning

"name folder"=name in aircraft.cfg (title)

b) i have edit new qc_plane.qcb

[option.0]
OptionName=%USFightersOption%
aircraft.0=F4F3_WILDCAT
family_type.0=1
name.0=%F4F3_WILDCATName%
aircraft.1=P38F_LIGHTNING
family_type.1=1
name.1=%P38F_LIGHTNINGName%
[option.1]
OptionName=%USBombersOption%
aircraft.0=A20B_HAVOC
family_type.0=2
name.0=%A20B_HAVOCName%
[option.2]
OptionName=%USEscortOption%
aircraft.0=F4F3_WILDCAT
family_type.0=1
name.0=%F4F3_WILDCATName%
aircraft.1=A20B_HAVOC
family_type.1=2
name.1=%A20B_HAVOCName%
[option.3]
OptionName=%RAFightersOption%
aircraft.0=MC200_III
family_type.0=1
name.0=%MC200_IIIName%
[option.4]
OptionName=%LWBombersOption%
aircraft.0=HE111H4
family_type.0=2
name.0=%HE111H4Name%

[player default aircraft]
aircraft=F4F-3 Wildcat
GunAmmo=2550
[strings]

"USFightersOption" =US Fighters
"USBombersOption" =US Bombers
"USEscortOption" =US Escort
"RAFightersOption" =RA Fighters
"LWBombersOption" =LW Bombers

"A20B_HAVOCName"= A-20B Havoc
"F4F3_WILDCATName"= F4F-3 Wildcat
"HE111H4Name"= He-111 H-4
"MC200_IIIName"= MC-200 III Seatta
"MC200_VIIName"= MC-200 VII Seatta
"P38F_LightningName"= P-38F-15 Lightning

Instead F4F-3 Wildcat as default is A-20B Havoc again
Where i fault?

Best regards

The default player aircraft in both Quick Combat and Free Flight modes will always be the first flyable aircraft in alphabetical order, even if there is another one in your qc_plane.qcb file.

I guess the only reason MS implemented this is they want your game to crash each time you try to delete the aircraft folder indicated as default player aircraft in the qc_plane.qcb file... :banghead:

Thanks Roxane,
so if i understand correctly in the CFS2 stock installation the default plane is always the Corsair (that isn't the first in the list), instead of in the other installation (es. MTO) without the stock planes the default is the first in the list?

It is correct?

Best regards.

No : the default aircraft is always the first in the list.

I don't know why there is a [player default aircraft] section in the qc_plane.qcb file, because it is obviously useless. But this makes your game crashing if you don't have this aircraft in your 'Aircraft' folder...

Thanks for your kindly reply Roxane, my question is not important, is only a my curiosity, but i confirm you that in clean installation the default plane is always the Corsair that isn't first in the list.
I don't know way but it is.

Quite strange... As far as I remember, the default plane on my system has always been the first one. But that's long now since I last played with a clean installation. :encouragement:
