The Lincoln doesn't come down password protected as far as I can remember. Do you mean an account password from the store?

Ah.. ok. I've had an account there for so long, I can't remember what the initial process is. Surprised you can't just buy and go as it were but I guess you have to have an account to be able to re-download your files should this be necessary. Odd it's taking them so long. I thought the process would have been fully automated. Hope this doesn't stop you getting the Lincoln at the discounted price.

I wish they'd stop. It's only a matter of time before I see something I want:biggrin-new: Fortunately, there's very little of Virtavia's portfolio I don't already have and of the stuff I don't have.. can't see anything I'd want even for $12. Actually.. I have a lot of Virtavia stuff I wouldn't give $12 for and I paid a darned site more:banghead:

I was not interest in the Lincoln .. but my good friend Marty drop this in this morning ... but just for interest sake I'd thought it would be nice to share and add to this thread , a Lincoln CG slide-rule used, since my place is a museum , was the ideal place to keep it safe , course I want to have a play around with it at a latter time and get to understand the workings.

Nice one Ian:encouragement: Wonder how many of these are still floating around or more to the point, sitting in boxes up in lofts!

Dave, this one looks brand new, Marty was RNZAF and so was his Dad, he past away recent and found many bits and pieces, the weird thing Marty did some volunteer work at the Wigram Air Force museum sorting other bits and pieces and all these gizmos, mention they box's off these of different types slide rules.

It looks like it must have been his passion (or fad as the case may be) and it's likely that there are some rare items in the collection. One of the guys over at CBFS is a volunteer at Tangmere and stumbled over boxes of slides while having a mooch and decided to archive them to digital format before they degrade any further. The number of beautiful shots of UK aircraft(airliners) wearing long gone UK liveries was amazing. He posted a few (with permission) on the forum. It's surprising what gets donated to museums and gets forgotten about.
BTW.. I may know Marty via email. If I'm not mistaken, he was trying to get some decent internal shots of a Bristol Freighter out in them there parts.

Think it would be the very same 'Marty' , he's great mate stops here regular for coffee or a cold one - chin wag and check my latest projects, I did photo shoot for Gary Russel's Bristol seven years ago , internal panels, gauges textures but these were never added into a FS9 VC, there is a FSX one in production, I was up in the cockpit a few months back , one thing pointed out the Bristol has a cockpit layout very similar to a Short Stirling , really its much the same to all types of the period but it is lotta fun making aeroplane noises whilst sitting in the drivers seat :adoration:

Hi Ian:wavey:

Not wanting to drag this OT any more.. yup, it sounds like the same one. The shots were for Gary's Frightner and were intended both for gauges and 2D views. Fraser got what he needed for the gauges but sadly, I never ended up with the right combination of shots for the 2D views. Good to hear he's still going strong so pass on my best. Gary now resides in Latvia of all places and is in poor health once more.

JensOle has done some really nice paints for this old crate - well worth getting if you've spent your A$13.00 on her. I've done this one out of interest - she sits at RAF Museum Cosford. Although not an accurate representation, the paintwork is generally ok but the forward turret has long since gone and she never served with an operational squadron. Not worth publishing as Jens's version of this paint scheme is as good and better.

PS I too have had experience in the cockpit of a Bristol Freighter. In the mid-fifties there was one derelict on a hard standing near the perimeter of my local airfield (RAF Defford). Had been used in AI radar development. We used to cycle out there, climb through a hole in the fence and play pilots in it. Difference was I was only about 10...!

A health and safety nightmare in this day and age, but sounds great fun :applause:, i remember a camping holiday in the 70'S, the farmer had a Whirlwind copter wreck in the corner of his field for kids to clamber around in, could'nt get away with it now:mixed-smiley-010: happy days---

cheers ian

back to the FS world, that Lincoln looks lovely.
