After some interest shown in this thread here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?92869-Realistic-Comm-chatter , I decided to dust this off and post a version for anyone here interested enough to try it out.

This little app interfaces runs independently of FSX, in the background, and monitors your tuned Comms. It then compares the frequency you have tuned in the sim to a list that you have loaded in the application. When there's a match, it plays whatever you've defined for that frequency. It was designed to play internet feeds, but it can also handle playlists, or folders of files, or even single files if desired.

Other than being for FSX, it has a requirement that FSUIPC is installed for communication with the simulator; however it does not require the paid version of FSUIPC.

The playback function incorporates VLC libraries (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html). However, this is a completely standalone player, and does not require an installation of VLC. VLC provides a wide range of compatibility with various formats, while maintaining a very low usage of system resources.

It likely has bugs. Some types of feeds like RTMP sometimes don't work. If you hammer it with quick frequency changes before feeds load, it might do strange things once in awhile.. It will likely cause Michael Bay to start blowing random stuff up inside your sim. You've been warned.

I had planned to release this last year. However, I kind of let this slip off my radar....

Also, this: This application obviously was designed to use LiveATC... What with being able to match ATC feeds with the proper frequency, and then having them load automatically when tuning that frequency in the sim. However. LiveATC is a free site, that lives off of advertising and donations. An application such as this lets you loads feeds without visiting their site. As such... if you find this application useful, and want to use it for streaming stuff from LiveATC, I highly recommend donating at least a tiny bit of money to them via their link on their front page.

With that said:

Hi JimmyRFR,

That's what I call a swift release :)
Thanks very much for you effort and sharing this with us.

Off downloading and 'playing' around. Let you know if I stumble on strange broadcasts.... :biggrin-new:

works great - thanks
so far I just used the default northern Canada freqs - dialed 121.00 on NAV1 and flew around High River CEN4 - adds a lot to the sim using the aircraft radios to tune live and realistic ATC
