Magnificent screenies, BC! :applause: :applause: :applause:

How did you find your target in pitch black darkness? I always wondered if there is a working aerial radar gauge/screen for CFS2, I tried using a few times FDG's P-61 radar but it seems to be only cosmetic on my pc.

Did you use a working radar gauge?

Cheers!

No addon radar required -- just use the standard target window that comes with missions and QC like radar to locate prey and prioritize threats. Track with the targeting brackets (TILDE key) if necessary. Then its just a matter of staying above the target to keep it silhouetted against the terrain lighting for the best shots. Even with a pitch black sky the terrain is still dimly "lit" in CFS2 and ground detail is darkly visible, so the player can still make out target silhouettes against the ground.

When using the brackets to track against dark ground and black sky, the brackets become the target box to substitute for an airplane outline not clearly seen in the darkness. Just use the same gunnery skills against the moving box that you would against a maneuvering, visible target in daylight.

Most of my radar equipped night fighter models also have radar screens painted someplace into their 2D panel bitmaps by default. I just move the target window to the bitmap's radar screen and resize it to fit, like pretend radar.

A neat solution and finely honed fighter pilot's skills! :encouragement: For the sake of realism, I never use the targeting brackets and/or that ugly target indicator cone, but, yes, the brackets can be an excellent substitute for a night fighter radar screen.

....can the standard target window be dragged around and resized with the mouse?.... :stupid: I always thought it was fixed!
Thank you for the night fighter operational training session, BC! :wavey:

Cheers!

Hey Bc thanks to you and Oldwheat ,, Bruce Thorn,s , P40c never looked better , since your toying with night fighters , I got,s something for you to test out , Now I,m not sure how this will work on a new fancy rig , with a good video card , Cause I set it up with a Voodo 3 card , remember those antiques , Been toying with Emissive qualities , and this seem,s to work a little better than the original , external and internal high lighted model , with the Vc gauge pac high lited with a tinge of Red ,
