DON'T MENTION D*CT T*PE!!!! Willy's in the area & he's obssessed with the stuff...You'll set him off again.
Honestly, aeroplanes come a poor Second to that useful sticky stuff in the Chief's wierd mind! :sheep:
(That aircraft, BTW, is a crop-duster of some sort & it's just been a-dustin'. Probably converted from an Austin 7 or something.)

I've flown in a glider with tape around the wing roots, apparently is an aerodynamics thing, and in the super blanik you need all the help yyou can get!

I was flying back from some Greek island once, Airbus something-or-other. Everyone was nicely strapped in, but there was some delay. Captain announced : 'Something fell off the wing on the way out here. We're just ringing Rolls Royce to find out if we'll be able to get back home without it...'
Later : 'We've taped over the gap and we think it'll be alright. We should be departing in a few minutes.'
Fact. :icon_eek:

I saw some pictures of a chinese 747 somewhere on the internet where seat belts had been used to hold together turbine blades in the engine, they looked like a rabbit had been at the leading edges of them (one with very big sharp teeth-oh no we're getting back to monty python here:costumes: ).

Actually James, I thought it might have been one of your early trial restoration jobs. The tail off an old Auster, wing off a fairground carousel ride and your dad's old lawnmower engine. All held together with duct tape and rubber bands. They have a TV programme about similar efforts - called the Scrapyard Challenge or something !

Its funny you should say that, the winning team capitain on both series of srapheap challenge 'the scrappy races' has been andy the technician from my school! they welded the front ends of two taxis together for the first series and for the second series had an ice cream van on top of a landrover chasis.
