Excellent!

All of his sceneries are very high quality, and it looks like I'll be doing a lot of flying in Hawaii in the near future!

I went on a mission last night and installed parts 1 & 2, along with the plus version of the photoreal islands from Hawaii Photoreal, Kauai by Ironhand, plus the buildings and trees for Maui & Molokai from avsim. So I was pretty pleased last night to see this post about this new pack of airports!

It's worth noting that this pack includes an elevation fix for PHBK Barking Sands, as well as some autogen trees for the Big Island and Kauai. Had an elevation issue at PHUP on the new pack though.

The combination of these amazingly good airport packs, great photoreal and autogen... I'm seriously in tropical flying bliss right now!!

Many thanks to George for creating these great airports!

Hawaiian Airports #3 is nice however, when I was flying off shore at Upopu PHUP I did notice a little elevation of where the surf meets the shore line. Water flows up to shore.

Don

Agreed that 3 is terrific, but not sure what would be encompassed by four more editions other than Wheeler and Bradshaw AAF.

If you consider Mr. Keogh's three packages, FSDreamteam's Hawaii series, and Aerosoft's Dillingham, we have extremely detailed custom airport scenery for the following airports:

Princeville
Port Allen
Barking Sands
Lihue
Kalaeloa/Barbers Point
Ford Island
Dillingham
Kaneohe
Honolulu
Molokai
Kaluapapa
Kapalua-West Maui
Kahului
Hana
Lanai
Upolu
Waimea-Kohala
Kona-Keahole
Hilo

Wow....all that's missing are the two AAFs, and potentially a few ranch strips which may not even exist anymore. :)

FSDreamteam. They have Honolulu Intl as a standalone product. They also have Kahului, Kona, Hilo, and Lihue split between two other products.

Upolu shore line looks mostly ok to me, with or without mesh...

I wish I could darken the ocean... This coral reef blue is ridiculous here (default FSX tropical water)...
Is there a tweak (I use DX10 and Steve's fixer) or alternate dark water texture?

How did you manage to get the shoreline (water) to where it doesn't look like it is flowing from a lower to higher elevation.

Some nice pics there!

My issues with PHUP isn't to do with the shoreline, it's that there's an elevation issue on the airport itself, much like PHBK had before the fix (which was nicely included in this pack!).

I sent George an email with attached photo and asked him if he knew what is causing this. I had all 3 photoreal freeware sceneries installed then removed them to see if that
was the problem, even after I took out the Photoreal sceneries the issue remains.

Same abnormality here... but you can say to yourself that it's the waves crashing on the cliff in very slow motion, and live with it...

A better mesh could help, or an evevation fix maybe...

Try the FS Water Configurator...

Too bad, the FS Water Configurator is not DX10 compatible. Yet. FSWC Lite is DX10 compatible, but there is no control over water darkness.

I'm playing a bit with Steve's DX10 fixer, and it seems to work somewhat...

Default FSX water with DX10 on:

With some tweaks in the water shader interface: sky reflexion max 20% sky reflexion min 15% ambiant light 75%

Scenery: Bellows AFB (abandoned) from MegaSceneryX Hawaii (http://www.megascenery.com/MegaSceneryXHawaii.htm) (Honolulu and the island of Oahu)

An update to my own issues: I discovered that disabling the altitude 'corrections' provided by FTX Vector fixed PHUP perfectly for me. I'd forgotten all about those!!

I'm off to fly :)

Hi,
Extremely nice scenery (plus)!
I installed to a strictly default Acceleration and encountered several problems however.
I created individual folders for each of the three airport packs and had errors when extracting the following files to the appropriate locations:

passenger2.dds
PHMK_Apron_2.dds

Photo_PHJR_2Apron.bgl
3Photo_PAK_west.bgl
Photo_PHMU1.bgl

Photo_HI01_1.bgl

This is a typical error indication.
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19582&stc=1

I have both Gold and the Steam versions installed and had the same problems with each. If anyone has these files successfully installed please let me know. I may have problems with the zip files I downloaded.
Thanks, Jim F.

I downloaded all 3 zip files and installed Airports 3, as it has a couple of airports I was really interested in (Princeville and Port Allen). My question is, in the instructions it mentions that there are scenerys, and I suppose textures, in the Airports 1 that are used in Airports 3, but I already have the freeware Orbx airports installed, and they are very nice too, and cover several of the airports in these files. I would like to install the scenery enhancements from Airports 1 and maybe 2 to improve even the Orbx airports without overwriting the entire airport file. Is there any reasonable way to pick the parts I would want and not the parts I don't need?

SeanTK
February 16th, 2015, 08:36
Not sure if it's possible to mix and match, but all three of these airport packs include airport renditions that are as accurate as they can be, and they don't use default objects. I strongly suspect based on past experience with the generic Orbx airports that Mr. Keogh's are to a significantly higher quality standard, as the three airport packs are specifically crafted for these specific airports. I would encourage you to at least temporarily disable the OrbX airports for the region, and install these packs to try out Mr. Keogh's renditions.

I had to delete the ORBX Airports, there was many problems with the freeware Airports, Double Buildings, ugly Runways, etc...

Guess I'll have to try them starting with Waimea, as it is in both files.

Does anybody know if the FSDreamteam Lihue airport have the Marriott on Kalapaki beach in it? I fly over that area and with all the other scenery added I see boats and cruise ships and other things but nothing but a flat photo image where the hotel is and it looks kind of empty.

Hi,

I haven't been able to get any responses here or at Flightsim regarding missing files in the Hawaiian scenery downloads. Here's a screenshot which I suspect is due to the missing "PHMK_Apron_2.dds".

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20279&stc=1

Is anyone else missing the file in the download? Actually, the file is present, I'm just unable to extract it.

Hi Jim,
I've been flying around Mr. Keogh's Hawaii a lot and haven't seen anything like that. My PHMK Molokai is fine. It may be the way you installed it.
I already had the 1st pack installed, so, when #2 was released, I copied the scenery and texture folders to #1 and allowed replace/overwrite.
When George released #3, I did the same. The #3 readme stated that there were updates for #2. "Hawaiian Airports PART 2 - UPDATE" folder...Don

I created three separate scenery folders, named Hawaiian Airports 1, 2 and 3. Then I copied the updated files to the appropriate scenery folder and installed all three in FSXA.

I sent the author an email but I have no answer yet. Does anyone have the shadow as shown in the screenies? The shadows follow the aircraft and move with the time of day. I'm getting this at all these airports. I have installed them to folders Add on scenery\ Hawaiian Airports Part 1, 2 , 3. The scenery's are very smooth and very professionally done. Does anyone have a "cure". I have checked the elevation of several airports and they are correct.
Thanks

Hi fxs and gray,
Sounds like we all have a similar folder structure; and our installation sequence was probably the same also. I re-downloaded the first file in the series and was able to extract the problem files. PHMK now looks fine. I now know the problem is not with the files on the site.
I have all of my downloads as well as a bunch of information on an external hard drive and rather than blame the problem on a faulty file transfer I think I'll back up the files to blu-ray discs. Maybe the drive is going bad.
Thanks for your help.

finally got to Hawaii and have these 3 packs installed and OMG, just amazing enhancements for the islands a must have for any FSX simmer. I just loaded into PAK after landing at the default and its night and day, loaded up and a microlight was next to me taxing to take off, a helicopter was starting up, a marshal was hanging around, just WOW! :encouragement:
