Anyone else receiving many updates for W/7 this week?

My wife's laptop got 126 updates two days in a row and 18 today.

The 126's took 4-6 hours followed by many setups and restarts.

Not sure what is going on there.

Nope. Nothing unusual. Sounds more like the computer was off and didn't get any automatic updates.

I prefer to manually install the updates on both our computers, a Win7 laptop and Win8.1 desktop. MS typically sends out updates on Tuesday, but can be at anytime.

The last round was December 18th. I just checked with wife's laptop and no more since then.

If the updates are not installed when released, you do get the on/off recycling of the OS as some updates require install in a specific sequence. There have been times I tried to install too many, only to have to go through the process a couple of times to get all of them installed properly.

Sounds about right. I got the same. But 126...??? Ickie's right, there's something wrong there.

The only time I get more than 20 or so at a time for sure is if the thing's been off for months or I did a way-back system restore. I recall getting over 300 when I resuscitated a laptop from 2005.

Hello All,

Over the last week I received a bunch of updates for my Win 7 system, but nowhere near 126...

When I get worried out my system's health, I use Trend Micro Housecall... anyone else use it?

Happy Holidays! -Mike

I have been getting the usual few every couple of days.

Nothing out of the ordinary. I think something is wrong.

LOL Guys. I suspect that updates were turned off on the laptop; that's the only reasonable answer I can think of but will run all the usual checks. Thanks for the ideas.

Don't forget either that, if you have other Mickey$oft products installed like Office or so, the updates easily more than double.

Also, .net updates can take a looooooooooooong time!

Like Milton said, I imagine the updates weren't coming through for a while, and then all of a sudden there's a bunch of them.

Take care,

Dumonceau
