After I D/L the Basic C208 Caravan (FSX) I then got the C 208 HD Pack (FSX) and noticed the prop on it is hosed. The HD uses a different .air file I notice. I did get the FSX version of the C208 HD expansion pack.

I had to "Borrow" three prop DDS files to get the prop to look Okay in the HD expansion. I also have a dark panel with no gauges either

Sent all this to Carenado support. I suspect there is something amiss in the Expansion pack texture.cfg file

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\Texture.COMMON
fallback.2=..\..\Carenado C208B_Grand_Caravan_EX\texture.base

I had to add the _ to the verbage in the second line.

Another bulletin. This thing will not move when throttled. Carenado was notified of this as well. Yes the brakes are off.

I got in touch with Carenado and they have some nice Tech support folks. They worked with me and noticed why I was having so many issues with the C208 expansion pack.

Turns out that this expansion pack is not compatible with the C208 HD (EX) and that was why I had the texture issues with the expansion pack i.e. dark prop disk and dark cockpit with

no instruments showing. It is all sorted now and I have the correct version of the C208 and the expansion pack works splendid. :encouragement:

Also better frame rates with the C208 HD than what I was using. :encouragement:

I guess that is what I get for not taking the time to carefully notice the details of these programs and what goes with what. I've been waiting a year for this sale and got anxious

and pressed the buy now button too soon before taking the time to check out what goes with what or what works with what.

Glad you got it sorted out. The C208EX uses a glass cockpit, Garmin 1000 I think. The C208B uses analog gauges. Glass cockpits have a history of suffering performance problems in MicroSoft's flight sims.
