Are there cars available for these periods that could be used in FSX, perhaps a library used in freeware scenery?

Yes there are, the file is VINTAGE_VEHICLES.BGL. I have it in my Easy Scenery file so I don't know for sure where it came from. The picture may give you a clue.

There's some vehicles by Wolfi for CFS2, in our own library that may work, there's also a vintage vehicles.bgl by John Stinstrom in both his own FS2004 Scenery--World War II Naval Air Stations zip and the Calclassic object library that maybe worth looking at, find both at Flightsim.
cheers ian

Terry beat me to it, those are the objects im on about :-)

There is a collection of 1940's military vehicles in my Hobbs AAF scenery package available here in the library. Vehicles include Jeeps (covered, open and with trailers), covered and open trucks of several different designs, fuel bowsers and trailers, 'carry all' vehicles (like a staff car), ambulances and even a tracked aircraft tug with bomb trolleys.

Thanks guys, for all the answers! Off course I can use a very limited selection of vehicles as I'm building Dutch airfields, and so all the vehicles with stars and markings are out.

Any drivable? Yup, I know its a flight sim, but it will be great to have a vehicle to tour with.

There's a great drivable VW Beetle. I use that one to explore my scenery.

Thanks, Cees, there are quite a few out there. I'm always on the lookout for interesting & different things to drive, sail, etc. I even have a train.
There is so much that can be done with the simulators & it is great that some guys are thinking differently to make our hobby so interesting.
I think that adding cars/vehicles & even boats into the sim lets us think about creating missions such as driving to a sea port/dock/coast then changing into a boat, sailing to a port or whatever, changing into an amphibian plane or a car & so on...

As I said, there are many creative guys out there & I really support them. If they make something interesting, that for me will be worthwhile, I will download it in support. Obviously, if it is decent, I will keep it. I still remember, a few years ago, some guy did Formula 1 motor racings cars & a track!
Yes, the sim is so much more than just flying.

Are there any static planes from the thirties for FSX? All I found was a DC3 with one nacelle removed.

Bill Lyons statics for GW3 should work ok, especially if you converted them to FsX using Arno's program.

Where is the the '34 Ford from? I've got the VW and use it a lot but the '34 Ford is one of my favorite pre-war cars.

Yes. Just for AI. Second purpose: to sharpen my building skills!

I really love that picture Cees, it is so beautiful! A true '30s Schiphol scene!
I'm sure some other (Dutch) people do understand.. ;)

The building is not mine, but I have permission to use it. Schiphol is getting a nice atmosphere with a few cars from CalClassics. There are flocks of crowes over the field, that's also adding to the atmosphere! A few more custom built vehicles, some roads that have to be erased, all in all we're getting there!

Oh boy, would I like to get the cars that Terry showed. My first car was a '35 Plymouth business coupe. Followed by a 1936 Ford four door. Then I moved up to a very clean '37 Chevy four door.. Dropped down to a 1936 Ford business coupe. Finally I ended up with a 1940 Ford Deluxe two door, which lasted me while I was in the Navy. When I got out I traded it in for a nice 1948 Black Ford Convertible.
No sissy stuff in them like power steering or power brakes. Plus two of them had mechanical brakes. In those days, a heater and a radio were added accessories. The convertible had fender skirts, dual Smitty mufflers and white wall tires.
So if anybody know where Terry got those cars I sure would like to get them. Is it possible to put it around Plum Island airport?

FS2004 Scenery--World War II Naval Air Stations. Leading up to the Second World War, the United States pursued a rush building program for airship bases. These bases were designed to support fleets of blimps that would patrol its coasts and help protect its vulnurable shipping lanes. Together these bases boasted fourteen airdocks which are widely believed to be the largest free-standing wooden buildings ever constructed. Although time and misfortune have destroyed most of them, this scenery will bring them back in their heyday of the early 1940's. This scenery package contains all eight of these wartime Naval Air Stations; Weeksville, North Carolina (NC), Hitchcock, Texas (TX), Glynco, Georgia (GA), Santa Ana, California (CA), Richmond, Florida (FL), Houma, Louisiana (LA), South Weymouth, Massachusetts (MA), and Tillamook, Oregon (OR). As a bonus for your patience you will also find the seaplane base at Tongue Point OR and a custom scenery addon package of ground crews and vintage vehicles. This is a stand alone scenery package and requires the removal of any and all previous versions. By John Stinstrom.
