you shouldn't need the airbase.dat if you're just adding the gsl ports. now if you're adding achims airbases then you'll have to add all of the info. I think thats why Rami is confused.

To be honest, I really hadn't thought about doing airbase.dat entries for the GSL ports...they are primarily used as mission targets.

I include a list of the ports in the readme...and both packs will be updated by the end of December.

Fani,

I am not Rami, but I will answer your question.

If you have GSLEdit in your GSL folder, you open Rami_Ports_Europe.gsl with it. You will have to map to it with the dropdown menu as it points to the original CFS2 install instead of wherever you have the ETO/MTO install with Rami's ports.

Then, you have to open each of the gobs noted on the left of the screen and it will give you each port's coordinates in the lower right of the screen.

It will be a fairly time consuming process. The easier way to do it is to open CFS2 MB and move your map to all of the different ports and make note of the coordinates.

Absent those two ways, install them and then fly over them with "Shift+S+S" and note the coordinates.

Davildog's GSL editor method is one option. But I didn't pull these locations out of thin air. An effective way to do this is to use either Google Maps, Google Earth, or an Atlas, and look up the cities and locations, just as I did, and get the latitude and longitude that way, you just have to tweak it slightly.

All of these places are readily findable through these channels. While I appreciate your interest, I really don't think I need I need to play Where's Waldo with these GSL locations to provide something you can readily do yourself. If I was doing Ettico's work and creating small target bitmaps well inland, I might concede the point, but in this case, I'll let the user do the heavy lifting.

One option that could be done is someone could talk to kdriver about doing takeoff point.bgl files for the locations...he might be willing to do that, and I would grant permission for the modification.

It sounds like its time to start back up my KMZ to CFS2 project.

If you'd like I can show you how you can take the Lat and Long from Google Earth and add them to CFS2. Its not strait forward. The chords are different and have to be converted to CFS2 format. But you can do it very quickly and with multiple pionts.

Let me know if you'd be interested.

I have in fact made seaplane take off points as .cfv files for some of the ports. The favorites.dll file is required in the MODULES folder (I can't remember where you can download that module but I know it comes from FS2002).

now that you have the coords you'll want to convert them for use in CFS2.

here is a site that will allow you to do just that.

there is a fuction that allows you to batch convert multiple points. just put them in a spreadsheet.

I'm working on a spreadsheet that will do the conversions for you.

It will, I hope, convert either degree decimal coords or standard degree coords into CFS2 coords. There is some manual entry of data. I'm working on that as well. My hope is to make it so you can take either info from Google earth or CFS2 and have it in a useable form for either program.

I'll keep you posted.
