I never owned this sim, and to be honest I know nothing about it. However I understand a lot of mods have been done to this sim, and are still ongoing.

I did a search on Amazon for this sim, but the few copies I saw were quite expensive.

Is this available as freeware now?

I was made aware of a company, "Flying Quiote" that is designing a A-7 Corsair for use with: A7 Corsair II which will be released initially for Falcon 4.0 BMS. Anyone have more information on this? Thanks. NC

Hey Chief,

Is this what you are talking about. If so, this is pretty nice. In an F-16 cockpit you hear a 400 HZ sidewinder tone and then it's fox 1. The winder then smokes what ever he had locked on.

NC,

Normally a Falcon BMS 4.32 flyer but out of the loop lately with the mods, busy with DCS and FSX betas.

www.benchmarksims.org, free sign-up for the forums.

And also check out simhq.com forums for some 4.33 teasers that include carrier aviation (legacy Bug, AV8B). I've not seen anything on the SLUF, but most add-ons now use the base F-16 avionics. Good info too for you to track down the F4.exe file needed to run BMS. Warning, it can be a PITA to initially set up if you do not follow the instructions.

Chief,

the Falcon series have been further developped as freeware: http://freefalcon.org/pages/downloads/

They're now at version 6.0.

Cheers,

Thanks Dumonceau, but I am a little confused. There is a site for the BMS Falcon version, and there is a freeware version? NC Are they compatible with each other?

At the "Freeware" version there is the caveat that Mr. Dumonceau failed to mention: FreeFalcon doesn't run on Intel integrated graphics and probably never will unless Intel starts building in some pretty powerful GPU chips.SO I guess if you have intel Chip this may apply.

Also I found this nugget http://www.fscommunity.info/2013/06/falconbms-update-6/#.VEQyXj84OLs (http://www.fscommunity.info/2013/06/falconbms-update-6/#.VEQyXj84OLs)

They may of ironed out the issue with Intel, it's just that I saw that intel blurb at that link mentioned above.

OT The blues are now done here and will be on to Jax tomorrow as they have a show there next weekend. Maybe they bingo to P'Cola before Jax.

Take care.

Yes, they do come back to P'cola. I think there are three more practice sessions before they head for El Centro for the winter. Their practices are the same as the air show performances, but free! Takes about 45 minutes to drive to NAS Pensacola from my place. Wife and I plan on going this Wednesday. NC

The BMS version is Falcon 4, and it's free. You need the original Falcon.exe file to install it though. It can be found on the web.

BMS is great, the re-learning curve is tough though. Had it sussed 10 years ago, now I'm struggling. Damn those missing brain cells :biggrin-new:

LOL, me too. I had Falcon 3 all worked out. Now I'm starting over. Still a good sim.

Thanks Dumonceau, but I am a little confused. There is a site for the BMS Falcon version, and there is a freeware version? NC Are they compatible with each other? For what it's worth, Falcon BMS & Freefalcon are further developments of Falcon 4, but by two separate development teams. I'm not sure how much compatibility there is between the two.
I was made aware of a company, "Flying Quiote" that is designing a A-7 Corsair for use with: A7 Corsair II which will be released initially for Falcon 4.0 BMS. I have CFS2/CFS3 for WWI-Korea and Falcon for modern F-16 operations, but not as much for Vietnam-1990s. So I am very excited to see an A-7 for Falcon BMS.
