Hey guys,

Take a look at the ol' MB map and see if you notice anything different...once someone does, I will enlighten you.

Note: Kdriver is forbidden to answer....shhh! :censored:

somebody stole Dyce?

Rami
October 10th, 2014, 06:44
Jamie,

Dyce hasn't been done yet. But there are others that have been...Driffield, Catterick, Drem, Prestwick, Outston, (relocated) Acklington, and Dishforth.

Still to come...Dyce, Church Fenton, Kirton-In-Lindsey, and Usworth.

Another member requested a couple of Cornish airfields, (St. Eval and Predannack) so I'll ask later today if these can be worked in. :encouragement:

Great! Some more Coastal Command bases....

Whilst you're up Scotland, how about Stornoway?, and then just a short hop over the Atlantic / Irish Sea to Northern Ireland and Aldergrove, Nutts Corner, Ballykelly, Limavady?

You know you want to.

Cheers,

Shessi

Coastlines? Did anyone ever get them compiled with Sanders tool? Wouldn't compile for me, and I remember they were not included at his site.

Jamie,

The coastlines for Sander's files stop around the latitude of Trondheim, I think. Scotland should be cool! :very_drunk:

Mark,

I'll see what I can do...but that means you'll have to create the GSL harbor scenery for Belfast and recreate the "Belfast Blitz" in Mission Builder. (I'm already spread far too thin as it is) Deal?

hey Rami,

do you have Rosyth finished?

Ok Rami, as and when....

Hey guys,

It if isn't obvious yet, achim27619 is the architect, I am testing and consolidating his new airfields into the packages for JHS_England and JHS_Germany. Kdriver is also testing. That way when they are released, there are no bugs.

My main area of concern was to get some new airfields in the North of England and Southern Scotland for the attack by Luftflotte 5 on 15 August, 1940. However, other airfields have been added to the mix, such as Prestwick, near The Clyde.

I'm going to ask about a couple of Cornish bases and maybe the Northern Ireland bases.

Blood_Hawk23, Rosyth is less than 20 kilometers from Drem, I think that's reasonably close.

if you have a gsl layout for it could you send me it?

Rami

John,

For what, Drem?

Blood_Hawk23
October 11th, 2014, 02:58
no Rosyth. If you have it that is.

Rami

No, that's what I'm saying. Drem is within forty kilometers of Rosyth. I'm very cognizant not to bite the hand that feeds me. If a base is reasonably close to a location such as this, I use the nearest airfield, rather than request another one.

Also, given that Achim is making WWII airfields, concrete runways for a WWI airfield would look just...well...strange, don't ya think?

Actually Rosyth was and still is the Royal Navy dockyard just to the west of the Forth Bridge. Iain Murray made models of the rail and road bridges for FS2000. They're compatible with CFS2 and available at FlightSim.com. The road bridge should be deleted as it was built after the war. FS2004 has a good rendition of the bridge but I don't know if it can be converted for CFS2 use.

Rami,
Yeah I'm looking for the dockyard. I haven't done any of the WWI British Airfields. Though I should start looking into them.

I'm working on a little project right now. I want to do the Trees like LW's but in a forrest set. Allen has helped me to find out how to set the models to rotate to the aircraft. But I'm considering some Searchlights that can be place in MB. Maybe not used as GSL but rather have them as infastructures. I'm still in the learning phase. I'll let you know how it goes.

Blood_Hawk23,

I was thinking about doing some Firth of Forth scenery after doing some work on The Cylde...but it would take away from my campaign-building time.

Hey guys,

Usworth and Kirton-In-Lindsey are both completed. Achim also has no problem doing Predannack, St. Eval, Aldergrove, Stornoway, Limavady, Ballykelly, and Nutts Corner. He's on it! :very_drunk:

If you (Shessi) and Kdriver and anyone else can provide me with locations and other intel (period pictures, for example) I will send it along to him. I will also try to do some research on my own.

We've already got Banff, Dallachy, Lossiemouth, Leuchars, and Wick elsewhere?

...just out of curiosity, have you ever seen this site? http://www.wartimememoriesproject.com/ww2/airfields/index.php
It has a listing of ALL bases in WW2 England and what groups were operating there. Could probably get pics etc.. by looking for websites of those groups.

Hewman100,

Banff, and Lossiemouth, yes.

Banff: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=493

Lossiemouth is part of JHS_England.

Hey guys.

All these airfield suggestions are great. But remember, achim27619 is one of the few people in CFS2 who do blended scenery airbases. After these bases are completed, there will be bases in Cornwall, the South Coast, Kent, Greater London, Essex, Sussex, East Midlands, the Northeast, Southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern Scotland, the Shetlands, and the Orkneys.

Given that there are now more than fifty bases done by him that cover most areas of the UK, how much more, honestly, do you expect him to do?

Now, if someone else can pick up the torch and fill in some of the gaps...

Jamie,

Hence with the addition of the new bases, it shall be renamed "JHS_United_Kingdom."

I'm not wanting to add to achims workload. Goodness knows without him most of Europe, the Mediterranean etc would have little in the way of landing fields.

It's just difficult to keep track of what's been covered already, what still needs work, and what hasn't been done at all.

Blood_Hawk23

Rami would have the current list/s. I think he has one for each ToO (thats Theater of Operation).
