We have one person in here that works long hours 24/7 for our enjoyment. When something goes wrong or fails, he struggles and gets it done no matter what it takes. Yes his health is failing and yes he is a old fart. Well how to you say thank you...yea we can post it or what ever but I have another idea.Apple makes a very nice 32 in monitor >> http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Cinema-30-inch-Flat-Panel-Display/dp/B0002ILKWM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1232845781&sr=8-4 this is for his old eyes. I would also like to buy a nice processor along with a mother board. I am looking at doing this around April. Some should be getting there income taxes back around then. I know money is very tight for everybody, and I will understand if ya don't want to see this through. This is just a idea right now, but was wondering if any of you guys would be willing to start a fund for this and help me see this through. If we can pull this off when Ickie wake up and turns on his new system, he will see now that we all appreciate all his work and this will be a way of saying thank you in a special way....what do you guys think...Mike Ickie...SHUT UP AND STAY OUT OF THIS THREAD.

Count me in, because if weren't for the noted individual of which you speak so truly, there would be no SOH.... I might not be able to contribute an extremely large amount, but I will give all I can. As a footnote, if us SOH'ers would take a simple mason jar, and empty our loose change into it every day (instead of feeding it to a snack machine whose contents will someday hopelessly clog our arteries) between now and your target date, the items you mention would be easily paid for in full. Now, back into my cave....:friday::jump::applause:

Thanks guys...it will take group support in this matter. I think when we do this if we can pull it off we will all feel better towards the hard work that he has been doing it seems like forever. If you guys could spread the word in different forums it would also help. If I get enough guys willing to help me I will set up a donation area. This is just a nice thought right now but I need to know how many of the members are will to chip in...Mike

Hey goes, I am really shocked already at how many members have either email me or agreed to donate in the forum. The site is more family than I thought. We should all feel good about this. All the work that Ickie has done in the past years he has never asked for one penny. His health sucks but even when he feels like chet he still has managed one way or another to still keep the site up and virus free.It all still depends on how many members we can get to help us see this threw.Wouldn't it be something to see this happen.:amen::kiss:

Funny you mention it, that's exactly what I do! About once a year I empty the can on my dresser. Usually, there's about $100 worth of change in it, a tidy little windfall. It's not full right now, but I'd happy empty it for the cause. Count me in, too. Oh, and yes, Paypal would be the simplest way for me, too.

Ok guys...this is growing faster than I can believe. Ickie and I are working on a web page set up through Pay Pal and also a mailing address. As I receive the donation I will post the payment with your initials beside the amount. This way we can keep it honest. I have met some of the members in person but not everyone...lol. As I buy the hardware I will post the purchase ticket and a picture of the hardware, as we build it I will keep updating until it is finished. This is the only way I know how to keep it honest and fair. If we have any money left over I will send it to the SOH bandwidth which is coming up soon. I checked with Linda on doing a bank account donation but she said this wouldn't be a good idea due to gift taxes...ect..ect. I really think we can pull this off and after I saw how many wanted to jump on this which I am floored we can do it...Mike

I'm damn short, but this forum means so much to me, this is such a great community, that I wouldn't miss it. And a larger monitor and some other stuff should be affordable somehow.

Good idea, but an over priced apple POS? To many good monitors for a lot less to jusitify spending money on anything from apple. Sorry dog won't help if is a mac /apple POS.

Alright Guys everyone take a break :icon_lol:

I'll answer this one. :running:

twosixalpha welcome to SOH its a great place.

Don't worry about donating I think we got Ickie covered just fine. If you like the site and enjoy our company make a Donation to the site. Just click the donationware arrow and expand the list from the menu bar above.

If you just want to hang out and see if you like the site that is good also.

Now a little bit about Ickie AKA Ron. Hes not an old fart no matter what Moe says :icon_lol:. He is the guy who keeps this place running. He handles the bills and repairs the server when it is down. He and CK both keep the site updated and running as smooth as one can these days with all the Hacking going on at flightsim sites. We all have a lot of respect for Ickie and the rest of the admins for that matter. That's why we had the little donation run there. Ron was suffering a world of hurt in the personal computer department recently and it was time for the members to help out the man who is always there for us even though we never see it.

Anyway great to have you around look forward to seeing you in the forums. If your a FS9 or FSX pilot go to the Around the World Race thread (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/forumdisplay.php?f=6) and join the Propliner competition.

One thing I would like to ask is try to improve on your spelling. This is a very multilingual forum with members all over the world. English is already difficult as it is and it makes it that much harder when it is non standard. You may ask a question some day and miss out on the proper answer that might have come from one of our Dutch, German, Russian, or Italian friends. Not to mention all the Spanish speaking contries and or anyone else I left out. :icon_lol:
