Paul, as a member of the beta team I can assure you that Simon has done justice to this great aircraft. There are three models, Military, Civil and Floater.

Tried for over 12 months to break it in P3D but she just kept on flying.

I just had to buy this last night as soon as I heard it was released (using Paypal too). Didn't receive an email with the serial straight away either but I looked on my orders at SilverCloud and there it was:applause:

It's easy to draw comparisons between this model and the Aircraft Factory release and I have to admit I was unsure last night having flown it briefly but having spent rather more time with it today, I'm more than happy. All we need now is a paintkit (layered would be nice for us dummies!):jump:

Yup.. there's no problem buying through Paypal so why wait:wink: It seems a few of us didn't get email notification with the serial number from FSAddon (I still haven't received that) but you will get an email receipt from Paypal and the download link/serial number is on your orders page at SilverCloud so no problem;-)

Paypal
I am looking into the problem with the confirmation e-mail from the shop. It appears to be because of the shop software or the server settings it is on. I see it attempts to send emails, but fails, and the emails remain in a wait loop. So it is not a Paypal issue in this case. Apologies for the inconvenience, but so far I managed to solve all problems I believe.

I am also working on setting up a new shop, hopefully getting rid of this (and a few other) pesky problems.

For Simon and myself it still beats selling through distributors, who take up 20% to 40% of our income, making it even less feasible to continue our development work :-(

P3D

On another note... I added the P3D files AFTER releasing the initial package..... and people who already bought it before that time did not get the P3D files activated in their account. I have fixed that now and everybody should have TWO zip files in their Anson order. Just let me know if this isn't the case yet for you.

Happy flying !

Could well be there is an issue with emails from the store server..... that's why I am working on moving to another account, software and server. That, and because of the high cost of renting a dedicated server ;-) )

I'll have a new website (almost ready), a new shop and a new forum, hopefully all before the end of this year !

One minor issue I discovered this morning.

When I called up my GFA aircraft, the float version was not available. I discovered that there were two missing entries in the [fltsim.x] section for ui_typerole= and ui_createdby=. When checking all the aircraft.cfg files I found the same for [fltsim.0] of the C-12 Military version as well. Adding these entries corrected the issue.

So now I have all 13 Annies showing in my selection menu.

Just thought I'd pass this on.

WarHorse are you using FSX or P3D? In P3d if you use "Manufacturer" to call up the Anson you will get the floats version under GFA Avro Anson and the tractor will show under GFA.

If you use "Publisher" then for some reason The float version and the tractor won't show. I did not have that problem when testing.

You are correct. With the normal install, the float version doesn't show when you select GFA as publisher. That is because of the missing entries in the [fltsim.0] as I mentioned.

Here is the default [fltsim.0] from the float version (I always save a copy of my aircraft.cfg before editing):

[fltsim.0]
title=GFA Avro Anson floats
sim=GFA AVRO ANSON FLOATS
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=AVRO ANSON_check
atc_id=
ui_manufacturer="GFA Avro Anson"
ui_type="Mk1 on Floats"
ui_variation="SAAF 3168"
description="The Avro Anson, Type 652A, a militarised version of the Civil passenger Avro 652, flew the first time on 24 March 1935. The aircraft you are looking at here is a very unique conversion of the Anson by No.35 Squadron SAAF, at Congella Dockyard in Durban, South-Africa. It was used for training new crews in waterborne techniques before they graduated onto the Squadron's Sutherlands."

What is missing is:

ui_typerole="Recon & Training"
ui_createdby="GFA"

Since you didn't encounter the missing model during testing, I can only guess that you selected the aircraft according to the manufacturer which would be "GFA Avro Anson"

AussieMan
September 24th, 2014, 20:45
WH, probably the reason I missed it was because in P3D selecting aircraft can be a real PIA. Unlike FSX where you have thumbnails to help you choose an aircraft P3D has a different setup with no thumbnails until you select an aircraft. It is a real pain as I am one of the testers for another aircraft on the drawing boards and they have just named them A, B, C etc.

DaveWG
September 24th, 2014, 22:22
I notice in P3d the Anson is nearly off the top of the preview window. That can be fixed by editing the bounding box values using Raditor.

Most probably the most known picture of an Anson is the picture from the K6285 which flew with 321 (Dutch) squadron from the RAF. Even the Airfix kit came with markings for this particular aircraft as well. BUT......... somehow it was not included in this package!

As I can not wait until the paintkit is available I decided to edit Simon's textures and create this famous aircraft.

Not finished yet, but I thought I should announce it already :biggrin-new:

Sorry, but Champions League football (soccer) kept me away from my computer. So I didn't succeed to upload the file before my deadline. However there is more, as a sharp fellow member noticed. The Airfix model came with B roundels (see pictures below). However when you look closely at the black and white picture which shows K6285 and the R9742 in formation, you will see the real aircraft had type A roundels on the wing instead of the B roundels as supplied with the kit and which were already standard in autumn 1940. The roundels on the R9742 (in the back) even seem to be in the "old" position close to the wing tips. Thers is also a difference between the roundels on the fuselage from the R9742 and those on the K6285.

The wings also had 2 yellow squares on them which were painted with special paint which was used to detect gas (Thanks for this information David!)

As I would like to change the wings to depict the real aircraft, I will need so extra time.

Its available in the library. Get it while its still hot.

As said before my contribution is very limited as it is an edit of Simon Smeiman's original textures. So most of the credits should go to the original painter.

Cheers,
Huub

I also made an edit of Simon Smeiman's original textures. So most of the credits should go to the original painter. It's a real Dutch delivery.
The Avro Anson Mk1 came in 1947 in service with the Dutch Air Force. All aircraft had smooth cowls and no turret. There was a mix of glazed and standars nose. They were used for twin-engine and navigation training. Later on they were also used for light transport and photo reconnaissance.
This particular aircraft is the D-11 with glazed nose, RAF registration MG783, in service from july 1947 till june 1953 and had still the RAF color scheme. After there first big overhaul, they became all yellow.

I hope to put in the library asap. A few little thing to do.

Cheers

Outstanding repaint thank you. Looking forward to the Cambridge UAS one as well. How to decide which one must be the difficult problem with all the station hacks that flew around. My favourite was from RAF Gaydon as it was about the only quiet aircraft flying from the place!!

Any way many thanks again

Not wanting to hijack this thread, but did you ever work your magic on the Heron (Flight Replicas)? Add-on skins for that bird seem hard to come by, but I thought I read you were going to tackle it a while back (but might have been just wishful thinking on my part).

No, you are quite right about the FR Heron. I have promised myself a all-scarlet Queen's Flight example and was about to start when I got sidetracked by a Cessna 310B and a Anson C19!
The paintkit for the Heron is great but quite complex and I guess that could be the reason we have not seen any repaints yet - however I will be tackling her!

There is something seriously wrong with their shop system........ It took me half an hour to find it....... they appear to have a 'separate' on-line shop for boxed products... when choosing English instead of German I kept landing there... and not all our products are there.

As for the paintkit, I am still waiting for word from Simon :-)

Here in Italy they say 'piano piano' about everything..... which kind of translates into patience patience......
