Hi Good People,

11070

The Ford Project Team is proud to advise of the release of 50 new liveries for the Microsoft Curtiss Jenny JN4D default FS2004 aircraft.

All of these liveries will work within FSX as well as FS2004 - if you have the Curtiss Jenny installed in your Airplanes livery.

For those that do not have the Curtiss on their system there is a full Curtiss-Jenny-JN4D aircraft package with 3 liveries for both FS2004 and FSX

Plus 2 paint kits for repainters to create their own liveries.

And of course a bucket of FREE liveries for your flight sim pleasure.

Where do you get access to all this great stuff - at the Ford Project Site - http://www.ford-tri-motor.net via the Other Aircraft page and then click on the link to the Curtiss Jenny page or direct link http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/curtiss-jenny.htm

If you want to check them out in a slideshow then click on this link: http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/Slideshows/Curtiss_Jenny_JN4D.html

Pop on over to the Ford Project site - grab some Jenny repaints and while your there have a look around the thousand of other things available for free from the site.

Regards

Garry and Edward
Your Ford Project Team.

Awesome news Garry. For obsessed simmers like me is there a download for the complete set? I never let a repaint go unused so it would be less painful to grab 'em all in one shot.

Hi Mate,

Sorry to say but no full download pack yet - we are working to a strategy at the moment of releasing the first 40 repaints and then staggering releases of the Special 10 at the bottom of the web page over a period between now and early December - finishing with the Christmas special for obvious reasons.

The Special 10 will be released one at a time via the Ford Site, SOH, AVSIM, Simviation and FlightSim site at the same time every couple of weeks.

I recommend that you download the available "full aircraft.cfg" listed on the Curtiss page and populate the aircraft with the first 40 available - and the first of the Specials just released tonight the DVL livery - then as each new one is released you will be able to simply drop it into the directory and it will show and fly.

When the entire pack is finally distributed then we will create a Full Pack Download for both FSX and FS2004 simmer.

Regards.

Ah shucks. Anyway let me consider your option for a bit --- OK, done considering -- I'm all in.

Thanks again for all you efforts.

Awesome! Upped the counter by 1 for the USMC repaint. This is not the first time I've downloaded one of your skins, Garry. Thank you so much for all you've done for the hobby!

I installed the basic core version for FSX and added one other livery. Now they show on the previews and when I select one of the basics, I get a failure to start up model. The planes will not
load past the menu screen. :dizzy:

Also, when I deleted all but 4 of the ones I wanted = basic 3 + 1 extra, the Curtis-Ford project will not show as a choice to load in FSX. In order to get that back, I have to reinstall everything
including the original aircraft.cfg file which lists 50+ liveries (I only wanted 4 for now).

Don't quite understand the extra aircraft.cfg file that is zipped either.

11091

I even tried to use the FS2004 model and have same results. I can preview them in the freeflight mode and if I ignore that and continue, then I get what you see above ^
I think its a model issue(s).

I had the same problem. The thumbnails show up in "Free Flight", but when I try to start a flight, I get the "Cannot load this plane" message, or else the screen is just black.

Hi Gentlemen,

Interesting - The Jenny normally has no errors with the FSX version of this girl - would be interested in knowing if others are having problems with the FSX version that we provide from the Ford Project site.

Somehow the version I have of the FSX conversion might be corrupted if others are not able to use the aircraft.

There is an FSX version of the Jenny available here in the SOH library - recommend download that - install it and then add a few textures to it and see if it all works.

If others are also having problems running the Jenny in the standard FSX - not tested or assured to work in the other enriched versions of FSX - then I will need to see what needs fixing.

Regards

Garry

I'm having no problems with the install -- except for an occasional typo(on my part).

Since I had already installed the Converted Jenny awhile back, all I did was to add the new aircraft entries "ONLY" to the end of my existing List and start adding in the liveries. Since I'm rather methodical, I add each livery then check it out in FSX before moving on to the next. Got up to Chicago-FC before I quit for the night. That is a really cool paint job!!

Great work Garry and thank you.

I have downloaded the Jenny, the DH-80 Puss Moth and the DH-88 Comet and am getting them into P3D V2. So far all seem to be working ok but the one I would like, the Ford Tri-Motor. I have the textures for it but cannot seem to find an FSX version of the actual aircraft.

Any idea where I can find one?

P.S. I do have the FSX Payware version of the Tri-Motor.

Hi Pat, Roger,

I, in absolute ignorance of the consequences, just copied my FS2004 Default Ford-Tri-Motor aircraft directory - then pasted it in the SimObjects/Airplanes directory.

Jumped into FSX and bingo - all seemed normal and worked just fine - no doubt I am missing something technical as I am not a simmer - just a painter - but it all looked like is should look and flies fine. Was very surprised about the ease of the "convertion" - again no idea if it was "technically correct"

No doubt that Craig has put in appropriate technically suitable bits and pieces into his conversion and therefore recommend you go with that option - will do a quick check of that version myself.

OOPS - just went to The Old Hangar - found the FSX Ford - fired up the download - for probably an obvious reason I was only getting 6 to 9 kbits per second - 29 meg file - several hours to download - so quit the download....... :mixed-smiley-010:

Opens a pandora's box for the Ford Project Team - our principle project aircraft with hundreds of liveries available may indeed be FSX compliant as well.

Roger, I hope you enjoy the Jenny repaints - some real eye candy in there as well as some (as best that can be fitted to the texture limitations) historical renditions.

Regards and Happy simming to all.

I was not having any luck with the FSX version of the Jenny so I reinstalled the head to toe FS9 version of the Jenny and that one will work in FSX for me. Go figure. IMHO I think there must be a mdl
snafu 'cause FSX would have nothing to do with the loading of the FSX mdl files as written. Anyway, I guess flying the FS9 version in FSX is Okay as I will never know the difference.

Great Stuff Mate, Glad you got it working on your system - quiet a few downloads of the Ford Site version - which is also a clone of the FS2004 version and no problems - just one of those Microsoft black holes that pop up every now and again on some systems. Black magic stuff sometimes.

I will do a 100% comparison of the Ford version against the ORIGINAL FS2004 version - if I find discrepencies I will rebuild the FSX download version - if not then at least I am now aware that some black holes exist for some systems.

Regards and thanks for taking the time to nut it out and let me know how you resolved it.....

Garry.

Here's three of the repaints on the FsX native mdl. Notice self shadowing and there are also vc shadows in Dx10.

They look good Roger - I noticed a little tweak I need to do to the USA flag on the tail of the ORCA girl :biggrin-new:

Roger, When you say NATIVE Model - is that the one that we are making available from the Ford Project site or is it a migrate of another one.
Basically - do I need to revamp the FSX version that I have available on the Ford Site for the simmers out there?

PS - on a side note - this morning I got a clean run on downloading the FORD FSX conversion - will have a look at her this afternoon.

Regards

Roger

Garry,
The native mdl is the one I uploaded here with the link in the previous thread. The only changes other than the model files were a couple of changes to the aircraft.cfg to accomodate the slight changes in the view point caused by the new model.

Greetings ALL,

Ed Moore here, I am NOT A DARK SIDE flyer but I did install FSX gold edition with ACCELERATION on my system. Dropped in the
entire FS 9 CURTISS Ford-Project folder with all 50 repaints - selected display all variants, and instant CURTISS JN-4 - all working....
NO PROBLEMS but then I am not a DARK SIDE FLYER (grin)!! What do I know. All the best from the Ford Tri-Motor Project.
Happy flying!

I just wanted to say thanks as well. I have downloaded a couple
of the Jenny repaints and no problems. They look great on the FSX
Jenny. Will make a donation this Thursday when I get my pension.

I tried the Irish repaint for the FSX Vega but was unable to get it to show.
Many Thanks.

Hi Pat,
Craig Richardson converted the Tri Motor to FsX http://www.classicwings.net/

Roger, I have installed Craig's Tri-Motor but there is no Panel or Sound folders and also no air, check or reference files. I have copied these across from the FS9 folder but it doesn't show.

I also had problems with the converted Jenny. I went back to the FS9 Jenny and installed all the textures below the original entries in the .cfg. Works well in FSX and I am happy to say also works in P3D V2.2. The same applies for the DH-80 Puss Moth and the DH-88 Comet. The only one I have had trouble with at the moment is the Tri-Motor.

Pat,
As Craig says on his site re the Tri Motor...you need the Fs9 version to add the FsX mdl and textures.
I haven't had any issues with any of the converted Fs9 models showing in FsX Dx10 and I do like the self-shadowing effect.

Just downloaded a few beautiful repaints from the Ford tri-motor site for the Curtiss Jenny (Birdman, Lindbergh, DVFC).

Noticed all Virtual Cockpits have brown padding in VC view, but the aircraft exterior views show blue padding in cockpit.

Is there a way this can be fixed, perhaps via the aircraft config somehow ?

Dear Warwick,

You should visit us more often. Gary passed, more than a year ago, on the 25th of October 2016.

It was announced here at the SOH in several forums: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/102853-We-ve-Lost-Another-FS-Legend

Best regards,

Has anybody done an FSX Native conversion of the old MS Jenny? I liked flying it in FSX/P3D v3 but since moving to V4 I miss it.

huub vink
November 17th, 2017, 23:57
From my memory, there should be at least two and most likely three. One done by Dirk Stuck, which is available at Flightsim.com (filename : curtiss-1.zip). I'm not sure whether the Jenny by David Grindele is fully FSX native. This one is available at Flightsim.com as well (filename : jenny11.zip).

Craig "full" Richardson did a full native FSX version of the Jenny, but I don't know whether that one is still available somewhere.

Cheers,
Huub

Some years ago I uploaded Michal Putu's FsX model files here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=34&id=4793

You need the Fs9 Jenny initially though.

Thanks Roger that did the trick!

I dropped Michal Putu's model into David Grindele's update (filename : jenny11.zip) and I am flying again. Only other update I had to do was turn the tail skid into a wheel so it would move on the runway and its ready to go (I had to do the same fix in V3). Three of the textures did not work so I had to remove them but other than that its all working.

On a side note I noticed Craig Richardson's 'www.classicwings.net' site is down, which is disappointing as I know I visited it not that long ago.
