This is a repaint of the Spitfire IX, of Royal Air Force 322 "Dutch" Squadron. Serial 3W-B, MK265. Which was the aircraft of the
squadron leader at that time.The MK265 was operated by the 322 Sqn between August and November of 1944.

To be used with the payware Spitfire 2008 from RealAir Simulation. Buy it here (just now only Eur 9,95): http://realairsimulations.com/list_box.php?page=spit08_buynow

The Realair repaintkit was used for making this repaint. The following items were done extra:
- Redone all stencils and added lots more, so far i could find information and pictures on the internet;
- Pilot is repainted completely;
- Redone some bump-maps for some more detail (with RealAir approval);
- Several textures are now HD, 2048x2048 pixel for more detail.

Definitely looking forward to this, Marcel! As Paul mentions, I love the addition of all of the stencils, and the markings themselves are great.

WOW! That looks terrific! The RA Spit is a favourite of mine and you can never have too many repaints of her IMO. Would love to see one done of Cliff Robertson's MK.IX that flew so many airshows in North America through the 70's, 80', and 90's at the hands of WW2 veteran RCAF pilot Jerry Billings; she was a beauty..

Guys, thanks for all the compliments! Always a reward after making a repaint :very_drunk:

The downloads are up so you can get her (if not already found here) at:
AVSIM -> http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=184768 (Note they are moving the DNS server this weekend so they can disappear for 48 hours.)
SOH -> www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=3&linkid=18582

Enjoy!

Thanks for the HU, Marcel!

Still having the FS9 Mk. XIV in beloved memory (although in my eyes that bulky Griffon doesn't really match to this slender grace, I'd always prefer the Mk. IX) I didn't hesitate a single moment to buy her.
Just took her out for a quick spin - and what could I say?
I'm in love!

For the FS9 Mk. XIV back then, I've tweaked a special unarmed long-range PR version with a big load of extra fuel. Think I'm gonna try this for the FSX version too, just to spend as much time in the air as possible...

Cheers,
Markus.

I just love the RealAir Spitfires and this is another great repaint. Have a request for a clean factory-fresh repaint I'll do next week when I get back from vacation. As an aside, was asleep on the beach this afternoon and was awakened by the roar of a Merlin as a Spit went over going east at around 1500 feet and maybe 200 knots. Hairs on back of neck......:encouragement:!!!

Hello Marcel,

322 also flew the XIV for a time during the V-1 attacks on London. Would you perhaps consider making a repaint of a 322 XIV too?

Hiya,

Hello Marcel,
322 also flew the XIV for a time during the V-1 attacks on London. Would you perhaps consider making a repaint of a 322 XIV too?

Will keep it in the back of my mind, however will concentrate on the IX for now. Adapting and tuning the RealAir paintkit took some time and for the XIV i have to do all over again.

Stickshaker,

This repaint is around somewhere. I really can't remember where I found it, but it depicts the Mk.XIV which can be found in the Overloon museum.

Huub

Inspired by this thread and repaint I have just bought the RealAir Spitfire, but have a problem with the included scenery. I can't see it in the Addon Scenery library, and seem to start flights in a canyon. Is it actually compatible with FSX Acceleration and Orbx UK?

It's West Malling and it installs into the add on scenery folder into scenery and texture so it should automatically activate when you fire up the sim. I took all the files and created an add on scenery with it's own folder. It doesn't sit well in ORBX England as there are elevation issues but as Bill Womak the author said it is a very old scenery.

I had a problem with the scenery too. I contacted Rob and he sent the scenery separately. Don't know if its an update, but doubt it.

Like everything Rob does, his Spit maybe a little old now, but its STILL right up in my top 5 all time aircraft addons;-) It's a BRILLIANT addon, so thanks for the great new repaint!!

Thanks - so if it's not compatible I have to track down any eg58 files in the Addon Scenery scenery and texture folders and remove them, together with the traffic.bgl.
