Here is Milton's XP-47H (heavy metal) zooming along in FSX. Yes, it is a port over with a corrected prop for FSX (included). The sound file for the huge in-line is absolutely wicked!

Best, Paul

My favorite phrase in Flight Sim "Here is Milton's..." quickly followed by "whatever."

It constantly amazes me how much someone can accomplish after retiring for this hobby:adoration:

And Nigel's sound continue to annoy my neighbors. That is a good thing.:untroubled:

An excellent aircraft, very many thanks indeed.

For those of us who use FSX Dx10, the side canopy glass is a little dark.
I have attached a fix if required.
If you have this small problem, just unzip the file and copy it into each texture folder,
just like the propeller texture.

Regards,
Nick.

What is also required (assuming you have Dx10 Fixer) is to use the Dx10 toolbox (under the textures drop down) to convert all the 8 bit textures. Then the invisible parts of the u/carriage and canopy in vc view will become visible.

Roger,

Are you in P3D?

I see your outer wheel and brake calipers are missing. Not the case in FSX here.

The brake rotor was an 8-bit texture; you can replace with the attached or convert it to something other than 8-bit to see if that helps.

Hi Milton,
I took the shot before I had converted the 8 bit textures with Steve's Fixer toolbox (in FsX Dx10). It looked so nice I decided to ignore the missing parts. See my own post (which I forgot about) in post #19

Btw the commented out vc light (for P3D 2.2) in the .cfg needs to be commented back in Dx10; then you get a vc light.

Hmmm... shall we read something into this comment? It's not much of a stretch. :encouragement:

No, nothing to be read into that at all. For the purists out there, converting these XP's to a proper P-47D would require 60-80 hours on the model changes, texture mapping changes, textures, testing, Flight Model, and cockpit changes ... well, you get the picture. It would require a month of dedicated effort for essentially the same product we have for you today. I cannot ask the team to do that here at project completion.

I will, however, gladly share the gmax source with anyone capable who wishes to take it on. :mixed-smiley-010:

EDIT: I did not mean to infer that our product is "payware-like". I see that standard as much higher for FSX and P3D.

I have also posted this in the fs 2004 forum, but thought it appropriate to announce here also

Uploaded and available following due proccessing.

Main airframe textures are 2048 x 2048.

The paint kit contains most of the paths, shapes and paint layers used to create the original XP-47J texture variants.

I've included the camo layers, both weathered and factory-fresh, so for those simply wishing to change insignia or reg., the proccess should be straightforward.

We look forward to seeing YOUR creations - Have FUN!

And PLEASE!!!...some more of those AWESOME screenies. :jump:

BTW, anyone having trouble with cold starts of the XP-72, make sure that you have replaced the aircraft.cfg with the one in the FSX Replacement folder.

If you did replace it, and still have issues, you can change the following statement in the aircraft.cfg:

[piston_engine]
power_scalar = 0.9 <<<------ change to 1.0

He may have been referring to P3D where in one version the glass is a little dark If that's the case, just darkening the alpha channel more should correct that.

In DX10, make sure 8bit is selected in Steve's DX10 Fixer tool box.
the glass fix was a file posted earlier in this thread. Needs to be placed in each texture folder.
Prop fix for FSX comes with the original download, including FSX config file and sound.

BTW, I find the audio for this beast intoxicating.

Hello Milton & Team,<o:p></o:p>
What a gorgeous aircraft! Beautiful cockpit, feels (to me) like a Thunderbolt on steroids, an very nice skins. The only thing I miss is a gunsight. Will you address this in a later version, or Is there a way I can port over a gunsight from another plane to the XP-72? A prototype does not need a gunsight, but it would go well with the operational skins.<o:p></o:p>
Incredible how far piston-engined aircraft could be developed…

Milton and team - best project yet. If your Tigercat and/or S-2s get this kind of treatment, that would be outstanding. Landing gear in particular - just spectacular, as is the VC gauge work ... :ernaehrung004:

Well, thank you so much guys for all the kudos. We tried to take this to a higher standard and raise our bar a little and will try to achieve these levels in current and future projects. We invested a lot of time addressing FSX concerns in beta thanks to all the FSX/P3D beta testers who came on board. About 80% of the beta issues were FSX/P3D related so lots invested to give you a better experience.

We will also be upgrading the Harpoon to this level, and the Lodestar, C-57/C-60, and Vega Ventura are already being prepared for same. The F7F-1/3/3N will obviously enjoy the same treatment.

Republic XP-72_paintkit
By Nigel Richards
for the Republic XP-72 by Milton Shupe & team
15/06/2014
-----------------------------------------------------------

Fully layered 2048 x 2048 files for complete access to all model's texture surfaces (includes camo and weathering).
Access the full range of layers - add, subtract or vary all elements - rivets, panels, scratches, highlights, weathering, as well as the actual graphics layers for colours, markings etc.

So get some good reference pics, fire-up Photoshop and enjoy going creative for YOUR Republic XP-72 paint schemes.
And remember; FS is for sharing - and we'd love to see the results of YOUR work.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I have been out of town a few days but happy to be back in Simville. :-)

Yes, Duckie and Nigel, thank you for the great textures, inside and outside.
"Dem boys can paint, can't they??!!!" :-)

And thanks to Fliger747 who has been on this Republic project since its inception back in 2007 along with the late Damian "Windrunner" Radice.
Damian painted the original prototype livery of the "J" model. This project was in honor of all his many contributions to the community and to my projects over the years.

And to Nigel, Duckie and Tom, thank you so much for all the extra time you invested in doing some very different things in this project; it was fun. :-) :applause: :encouragement:

Great looking aircraft.

If only I could find where to download the FSX version. The only version I was able to find is for CFS. :banghead:

LOL Thanks Manfred. There is only one version of each with an FSX Textures update folder included.

You can find them here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links_search.php?action=show&userid=249&sort=d

I have corrected a reported issue with the XP-72 "272" Reno Racer texture with the pilot's hat and vest.

See this post for the fix: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?87935-The-Republic-XP47H-Xp47J-and-XP72-Releases&p=892544&viewfull=1#post892544
