Hello Paul,after my system died a few days ago,i got some new hardware.
MB:MSI Z87-G43
CPU:I5-4760K
RAM:8GB CorsairVeng.9-9-9-24
CPU Cooler:Scythe MUGEN 4
Use my old GTX580

Not exactly what i wanted,but it`s okay.
Now i use these settings for DX10:
In Steve`s Fixer:AA 4x
In FSX:Anisotrop and AA ticked.
In Nvidia inspector your "common" settings with 4xSGSS.

Myx fsx.cfg:

Here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/5qjidbqwyeuz7c7/bigMike_2_fsx_chgd.txt)'s your fsx.cfg, Mike:

This will change as you get into the overclock. You might try your memory at C8 timings for a bit more speed.

Looks ok. For 4760 oc info - look for the MSI's guide for overclocking that proc with their bios. I use ASUS, and MSI is sufficiently different as to be confusing. It's one thing to do it in the comfort of your workshop with the pc in front of you, but it's a whole other thing to do it blind and without manual!
There are also lots of oc websites for more info - it will take a day or two to find one you like, and then just tag along. It's not too difficult once you get some confidence - ok!

All the Best,

pj

Paul,your corrected fsx.cfg is working very fine,thanks again.
Another question i have is----with my new MB and CPU am i still good to go with the 580GTX,or could the card become a bottleneck?

Well, Mike - if you overclock the 4760 to 4.5 you can UsePools=0: at 4.6 you can UsePools=0: at 4.7 you can UsePools=0, but at 4.8 - you will need to experiment with UsePools=1 and a small RejectThreshold, and as you move higher you will need to increase the Reject Threshold size again.

My feeling is that, at the point where you need to go to UsePools=1 - that's the time for the 780 - ok! :encouragement:

Paul,my CPU is now at 4,4gHz and that`s okay for me.
Is it necessary to let FSX rebuild a fresh fsx.cfg after oc?

Great! Nope: for a 4.4 gig proc - UsePools=0, (because of the 580's superb performance): TBM should equal 80:fps set to 30, and FFTF=0.12.

Then - play with:-

Cloud coverage=4, Density=7:Autogen 3, but try 4: water=4: Image Complexity=4. There are other notes in your cfg, too, so check them and "play" as you like.

This should still give good performance, Mike, and you can play with these up or down, but always remembering that when all added together - they will reduce your fps, and can still cause stuttering - and this may not be apparent until you get near a large city or scenery with a complex aircraft and some bad weather.. The best thing is to make a list of what you can do without (like boats) and leave it at zero - ok! What you're looking for is a fairly constant 30 fps regardless of area or aircraft. This is not always possible - even at 5 and with a 780 I still have to "moderate" my own expectations. :(
Others have to as well.

All the Best,

pj

Thank you,Paul----appreciate the time,you`ve spent with me.
I`m sure, i will find my sweet spot.

One of the first things I always do with a new FSX install is to remove the dreaded "seagulls from hell" (ie. Monster shadowed framerate killers):

User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6=MyTraffic\Aircraft

Becomes:

User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
//SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.5=MyTraffic\Aircraft

This also removes dolphins, whales etc. but I don't think Greenpeace would object too much - it's only a flight sim!

Adam.

Hmmm.. Never thought of that Adam. Interesting what others do. Taking out the seagulls and birdie-things will add a frame or two to the Orbx scenery's as each airfield has millions of the blasted things.

Cheers,

I'm rather proud of this tweak ... I actually worked it out myself! Of all the hundreds of FSX tweaks out there ... to think one of them is all mine LOL!

On my systems (usually pretty low-end) those blasted things used to *crucify* my framerates.
