I am a great fan of the FCS Lancaster but I'd like to lose the prop roots, which you can see in the last shot. Has anyone identified the texture file where the prop roots live?

Hi Jan,
The roots or bases of the prop blades are coloured cream on the spinners which is most distracting in vc view. I've looked for that shape on the various texture sheets but can't find it.

Hi Roger,

They're on Lanc2_t, on the prop boss texture (see red circle below). I'm not sure what they're supposed to represent unless it's the base of the steel blade shields (in which case they're 60 degrees out) but they don't add a great deal to the aesthetics of the thing so I'd just paint them out. Alternatively move them into the spaces for the prop blades. You could also get rid of the blade shields altogether; there doesn't seem much photographic evidence they were commonly used though one Canadian post-war photo of a 10MR possibly showed them.

This is my version of ME499; it has an overlay from Matt Wynn's metallic repaint to improve appearance, which is why it's darker than the original.

I'm also a great fan of this aircraft and addon. My FCS Lanc probably has more hours on it than any other aircraft in my hanger.

My only 'niggle' is what *FEELS* like a glitch in the FDE... It seems to be HYPER sensitive to windy or turbulant weather. I sometimes find almost impossible to get wings level after some bumby weather.

Anyone else find this?

PS Sorry to hyjack your thread Roger;-)

Ok! I was intrigued by that expression. Even went and googled it... :) (it's a root that grows from the bottom of the stem of a tree to help support it ) I did have a hunge you ment these light thingies on the spinner and found the spinner texture but i see Dave already sorted it out for you.

It would've been great if the spinning props would've featured the '3D side view' invented by A2A and first seen on their magnificent B-377 and B-17. Particularly lovely because you can see the props from the VC both with the Lanc and B-17. The only other model i know of that has them applied is Manfred's DC-3.. :)
