View Full Version : GSL Port update for Europe...

Good morning,

I wanted to pass along that I have included some updates in the GSL Ports package for Europe. These include an enhanced London cityscape as well as more bridges there, along with a similar treatment at Antwerp, Cherbourg, and St. Malo.

I also tried some "auto-gen" GSL scenery around Margate and Ramsgate to provide some life at minimal framerate cost.

Please note that because of the "shifting" bug with GSL edit, some bridges in the London area may be slightly off; there is no way to adequately correct the problem due to fact that some bridges shift to the left when put into GSL, and others to the right. If you can correct these on your own, have at it.

Rami,

If I already have your previous GSL ports, do I need to D/L anything extra or just install and overwrite the previous version?

So explain what you mean by "auto-gen" please. This method will work in CFS2?

Ken,

Just install and overwrite. I didn't add anything new that I haven't used already.

Kurt,

Not exactly. I'm using Margate and Ramsgate (between the airfield and the coast, and north of the port) as a sample area to see if frame rates over that area remain acceptable using small buildings, churches, and forest patches.

If it works, I could use it to populate other areas of similar terrain.

Good evening,

I just wanted to pass along that to coordinate the GSL ports update, I updated all of the campaign and mission packs at both SOH and my Box folders that utilize this enhanced GSL scenery.

OK, added the new GSL ports Europe (70 gobs). Buildings and bridges pop up all over London but London Bridge is now missing. I have your original GSL ports, the GSL Europe ports (updated version) and Sanders sdc_london_gsl_obj_kh all installed. I re-added the central London GSL's from the old GSL ports and Sander's London GSL and the bridge is back. Went back and added the new GSL ports Europe again and again London Bridge is gone. Do I need to remove any of these before installing the new GSL Europe ports?

Ken,

Whenever you add GSL via an overwrite, always do three things.

1) Make a backup of your current file.

2) Use GSLman to remove all traces of the old gob entries. (Just highlight the new GSL and click "remove")

3) Add the new GSL file to your cfg2.gsl using the GSLman tool.

But in this case, you're right. I'm not sure how, but the Tower of London made it in without the bridge. I'll try to correct this tomorrow.

Ken,

Thank Stefano (Kelti) for that, I think Biggin Hill and/or Kenley got the same treatment.

By the way, thanks for keeping me honest on this, I appreciate those who give it to me straight!

As far as the IE buildings are concerned, I'm not sure at the moment what/where they come from. Could someone help me here?

Rami,

IE makes me think of Ian Elliot, he's done lots of airfields for FS9 ( & some RAF fields for CFS2).

Ken,

I took care of the update for you. The Battle of Britain / Operation Sealion, and the GSL ports package are all updated, at SOH and my box site.

Rami,
My comp took a dump on me yesterday, so I'll get the update once it's fixed. Looking forward to see all the eye candy you and Kelti did.
