That was awesome!
Years ago another aircraft was recovered from the ice in Antartica - a Lockheed C-130 that was left where it was after an accident and completely buried in the ice for years. It was dug out and had temporary repairs made to it and was flown all the way back to New Zealand where it was fully repaired and then flown back home to the USA. It was big news on our TVs at the time, it was like a phoenix rising from the ice.

There are many other aircraft lying on the ice in remote locations of Antartica - C-47s, C-117s and Lockheed Connies, all substantially complete aircraft with similiar damage, that could easily be repaired and flown out, like the Turbo DC-3 in the vid.
