14 ARD @ Gorrie is an airbase used by the allied forces during WWII. Gorrie Field is the first in a series of bases I am creating as a counterpart to the Solomon Islands scenery from Rogerwilco.
This base is one of my own creations, using maps and blueprints of the base. I made this base as historically correct as I could to match what I had from old photos, plans and maps.
History of Gorrie Airfield.
The RAAF complex and airstrip north of Larrimah was named after Flying Officer Pete Gorrie, who was killed on operations in the Celebes on 12 January, 1942 while flying a Hudson Bomber.
Construction on the Aerodrome commenced on 15 December 1942 by No.1 . Flight Engineering Construction Section. The strip was ready for operation on 26 April 1943 and ongoing development of the complex was effected by RAAF No. 8 Airfield Construction Squadron and the Victorian Roads Branch. The American authorities contributed 400,000.00 for the project.
Gorrie was established as an important echelon center. Out of the flight range of Japanese bombers. Gorrie was base to RAAF 14 Aircraft Repair Depot (ARD). And RAAF 55 Operational base unit.
These units serviced every type of aircraft in the territory. Field teams from Gorrie traveled around the territory repairing and recovering crashed and unserviceable aircraft.
As the major aircraft and vehicle maintenance depot in the territory, the airfield was constantly busy. For example, in September 1943 some 110 aircraft used the airstrip and by January 1944 this number had risen to 298. At the height of its operation Gorrie was home to 6,000 servicemen.
Building infrastructure included 90 Sidney Williams Huts; 8 Bellman hangers, recreational huts, barracks and messes.
From February 1945 and the close of war Gorrie Gradually diminished in strategic and operational significance. It finally closed on 29 October 1945.
Installation of the base.
Copy and paste all 4 files into your ADDON SCENERY file, make sure Gorrie_No14_ARD is below the other 3 files in the library, activate each file in FSX.

At this time I would like to thank the following who helped make this base possible...
