I live in a world of AI that has always been home to MS planes. I am now thinking of making the jump into sharing the skies with the familiar airlines I see every day going over the house. So, has anyone purchased this program yet? I would like to hear any feedback you got on this new product. It looks cool and sounds like it won't hit the system hard. It is time to Devorce Global Frieghtways!
thanks

So up to now no detailed comment possible.

So far the gadgets (Spotty, Follow me Car, Tower) are quite nice and usable, the planes look good.

More when I have more to tell...

Yes I have it & like it. One of the neat things about it is you can set the era that you want AI from. Im stuck in the past with the type of aircraft I like to fly so its nice to see those AI 707's, DC10's & 747-200 in the air.

It does a great job of filling the sky with accurately painted aircraft. The aircraft are low poly so the FPS hit is negligible even with traffic set at max. On the negative side, the aircraft are low poly so when you get close to them they have a blocky appearance.

I will post some screen shots this evening for you.

I had it and loved it...here is a shot of some...

Thanks for the feed back so far. How close to another aircraft do you have to be before the blocky affect? For me I like to see clean aircraft when taxing around the airports.

Thanks
Jim

Nice shot harleyman...planes look good from that distance.

There is one thing about AI in FSX...Something about the coding of FSX it takes time for all the AI to show in the sim, meaning that the longer the sim is running ,the more traffic you will see as the flight plans begin to crank..It was explained to me by Aerosoft, but I never really grasphed what he was saying,so I just took his word for it...LOL

AI look good from the Taxing position. I feel my Credit card slipping out of my wallet...

One of the options is to turn off default traffic. I beleive what you are seeing is the defaults with differant paints.

How close? Well I like to get in fighters & conduct intercepts & then fly formation about 5ft off there wing... So really close :)

Never considered they might be repaints...But they look nice to me from that distance...

Hey...If there are ugly up close..Blow em out the sky.....LOL

How do the models / paints compare with WOAI stuff ?

I have WOAI installed and the models / paintwork are fantastic, but busy airports are a real challenge on FPS

I recently got FSX running wonderfully with REX installed and am shopping around for some additional scenery (Ultimate Terrain stuff perhaps) and been thinking about My Traffic as well. My concern (as stated elsewhere) is that I'll mess things up by wanting so much my frame rate finally dies, even though it's perfectly fine at the moment.

I've not heard this at all, but reading your comment made me think that the sim does not go back in time to start the AI flights. That is, if you start flying at 1pm (sim time) then AI flights start departing from that time, thus they are all taking off into empty skies. After an hour of sim time, you'd have more regular traffic patterns. To fix that the sim would need to start a great number of flights already airborne to give the illusion the sim world was humming along merrily while you were busy shoveling the driveway, downloading porn or doing whatever else it is people do when not flying FSX. :P

Datter, if your wanting the best FSX experience IMO this is what you need. 1st the "must have's" UTX, REX, GEX, FSGen & ASX.

That done get UTX. You can set the traffic density to match what your rig can handle. Its great seeing "real" traffic.

Well, I have REX installed and running nicely. I'm still a bit confused about REX and GEX. I know the former makes for some nice ground textures, which is what I thought GEX did as well. Do you recommend both? Same for ASX, from what I can tell REX does some wonderful skies etc, which is what I think ASX does? If I have REX happening how would GEX and ASX impact that? Finally, if UTX does traffic... do I need to pick either or as far as My Traffic goes? This is starting to give me a headache. :)

I really don't want to start doubling up on addons that do the same thing, unless they run well together and provided some added reason to try it out.

REX and ASX are the same..Both do sky textures (clouds)

UTX does things like add all roads , railroads , correct water placement ( rivers ,streams, ponds) nightlighting , etc..(

GEX is Ground..It adds much to just the ground..It places fields ,towns, waterways, shorelines ,into correct place..It add towns and such that FSX left out...

Mesh (like FSGenesis) builds the terrain details , as in elevations for mountaing towns ,and such..Its what all FSX is built on...It makes the sim not so flat and displays mountains in beautiful detail

MyTraffic X add much more traffic and types into the air with more current flight plans and adds traffic where FSX has none... Plus had the abality to control your traffic density better,,,,

OK Now you know..But what to buy you ask..

IMO these are a must have...In order

Mesh...(I like FSGenesis)
UTX
GEX
REX or ASX
MyTraffic X

To me that is the order of all thing that make FSX wonderful :amen:

Thank you for that, most helpful. It seems everything FSX related is a couple of letters with an X appended so it's a bit confusing getting back up to speed. I've got REX happening, will get UTX happening tonight. Then likely My Traffic X followed by some looking into GEX and FSGenesis.

MAYBE.... just maybe... I might get to spend an evening flying sometime. :)

You will love UTX.....

It has some hard night lights in it...In the user interface there are dropdowns at the top...One of them is night lighting..I always set mine to 50%....Its a frame killer at 100%....LOL But you will see no difference in the sim really...

It is probably your scenery complexity level. Try to increase it.

Yes, X appended to all things we do in FSX and If we married folks play to long with FSX you may get the new add on X-wife:costumes:.

By the way, my Traffic X is in the mail.

Boomer, having seen the AI planes in them pictures, I am sticking with WOAI, the're are in a different league, admittedly at the expense of frame rates at busy internationals (sorry traffic x fans, personal opinion). I'm on a single core too and pretty happy with my setup UTX, Cloud 9 Europe landclass & WOAI. Wouldnt mind a weather / environment addon, but in no rush.

No offense taken Guzzler....With a single core that is your best choice too.....

We all have to do what our rigs will allow....:faint:

Oh I agree! As I said I like it well enough. If I had my druthers they would look better up close but that comes with a price & as I said, the impact of high traffic settings is negligible.

I've got to ask, Boomer, are you using MyTrafficX, or TrafficX. Your screenshots look like MyTrafficX, not the TrafficX ones on JustFlight's website.

Thanks Boomer... Although it doesn't look like the TrafficX aircraft are much "better" than MyTrafficX, MTX is still primarily populated by FS9-format AI, while according to JustFlight, TrafficX is entirely FSX native. I don't have the latter to confirm one way or the other, but do have the latest-but-one version of MTX, currently uninstalled.

Seeing as both are mentioned in numerous places on this thread, evidently there's some confusion here about which product is which! Just out of interest, can anyone who has TrafficX (i.e. the JustFlight version) tell me whether it randomises flightplans in the same way that MyTrafficX does, or whether it uses real-world-ish schedules?

In case anyone doesn't know, MTX doesn't use hand-coded flightplans. It takes a series of rules (e.g. a UAL aircraft will be based at specific places in the US, while an AFR aircraft will be based at specific places in France, BAW aircraft in the UK, etc.) and the rest is totally random. You can specify flights if you want a specific sector to happen, such as, say, twice daily Concorde flights from Heathrow to New York, but the schedules are not real. If you have default MTX installed and go to Belfast Aldergrove (EGAA), as an example, it is heaving with Ryanair and British Airways aircraft. In the real world, neither airline operates to or from the airport.

That won't bother a lot of people, but it will others, so it's worth knowing.
