Was just wondering; wouldn't it be time to have a decent payware quality MiG-21 (preferably Bis) for fsx?...Jurcagas one is a great model but still a lot of features missing. I think that too much great and iconic Russian hardware is being neglected by the developers. Your thoughts on that?

I think that with the imminent release of the MiG-21Bis for DCS: World, FSX no longer needs a decent MiG-21. And after that, it's gonna be the MiG-23ML, which I'm truly excited for!

Think you'll find Josef Cepek's MiG 21 (search 'pepek' at avsim.ru----> http://www.avsimrus.com/files.phtml?search=pepekcepek&sopt_mode=or&folder=0&sopt_title=1&sopt_desc=1&sopt_author=1&sopt_fname=1&sopt_comms=1&minrating=) works in both fs9 and X
and there is this one here ----> http://migsim.ic.cz/emefka.html by Ivan Jurcaga (sp?)

Indeed DCS offers a better platform for this classic. And a competetive price if you wait for a sales season. DCS world itself is free.

Ivan Jurcaga's Mig-21s are some of the best freeware available for FSX, rivaling a lot of payware. On a par with Dino C.

The Mig-21 is joy to operate and fly in FSX. Be prepared to study.

Ivan's MiG-21 *is* payware quality. Now go and fly it instead of daydreaming.

I am very well aware of Beczl`s MiG from FC2 days..since then I have been following the development and as it seems it comes out in march. I was constraining somewhat from plunging into DCS mainly because of my PC, but now, that the release is imminent, I am planing to get a new rig so I can enjoy it to the fullest! And I also fly Ivan`s MiG from day one and I still enjoy it..but guess I just want more from it than it can deliver (in terms of visuals and systems) and the fact that it is a MF/MFN. Just my view being overly enthusiastic when it comes to Fishbeds, especially the Bis version. It will definitely remain DCS´s domain :)

Faulty logic there. No, the fact that DCS exists along with whatever models are available is moot - the issue is what is available for FSX, as that's the sim in question. Otherwise, by that logic, the much greater range of Cold War jets in say, Strike Fighters 2, would negate the value for developing in FSX, right? Wrong - apples and oranges.

Regarding FSX MiG-21s, what Bjoern and Henry said.

As an avid fan of Soviet Cold War models, I can say Ivan's MiG-21 models are simply superb. I say model"S" because he's done both an F and an MF.
The thread on this MF is here http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?48997-Ivan-Jurcaga-Mig-21MF-soon!-(now-released and his earlier F is here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?68112-Quick-amp-dirty-tweaks-on-Ivan-s-Mig-21F. Yes, it's a port. I'll head off the inevitable "first world problem" whine of it not being "native" - it's awesome, it's free, and has delightful repaints. Carry on.

Couple these with a very substantial range of realistic and "what if" repaints from a good number of repainters - including our own "Zsolt" - and this will undoubtedly scratch your Fishbed itch quite nicely.

Cheers,

DL

Our MiG-21bis for DCS is indeed, not too far away.

We have not made a decision on return policy yet, however that decision may be favourable with regards to your performance concerns. We'll see. :)

Think you'll find Josef Cepek's MiG 21 (search 'pepek' at avsim.ru)

Josef Cepek brand new Mig-21PFM Export for FS9 (http://www.avsimrus.com/f/fs2004-aircrafts-40/mig-21-pfm-sps-58105.html) seems to work ok in FSX, except an opaque hud... Did try the usual alpha fixes, to no avail, yet... Too bad, because FPS are very good, most VC switches are clickable, etc... Thanks Sasha66 for HU in FS9 forum (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?98369-HU-Mig-21-PFM-Export).

Native FSX conversion of the old Alphasim freeware Tupolev Tu-16 Badger (2008?), available at here at Simviation (http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=fsx+alphasim+tu-16+badger). Interesting initiative by Lazarus (LLS)...

50% of this is a dream to have in FSX. Sorry but i really don't like the DCS
