standart J model.

2. B-24 J -30- CO " Little Lambsey Divey" 755th BS 458th BG 1944

3. B-24 H Witchcraft : 467th Bombardment Group, 790th Bombardment Squadron of the 8th Air Force. It flew in the 467th BG's first mission (April 10, 1944), its last mission (April 25, 1945), and 128 missions in between -- 130 missions in all, an 8th AF record.

See : http://electraforge.com/brooke/flightsims/b24_flights/witchcraftHistorical.html for WWII pictures and history of the real bird

I do not know how to update an upload in the library, so I uploaded a new "B24J_Allen_Skins_Updated.zip" today

Can you be kind enough to suppress the former ""B24J Allen Skins" to prevent SOH members to be confused with the 2 entries

Thanks in advance

I though about doing that desert skin but the need of desert B-24J was much to small so I went with the 3 basic skins. I really didn't want to fight with adding nose art and letter after all of the work of getting the model done.

Below is an update as the damaged texture had been compress way too much and was all blocky looking.

Hi Beepee,

"Tuberao" is stunning! :encouragement: You are working too hard, allow some rest to your eyes or you will pay a heavy toll on your eyesight!

What's wrong with the shark mouth? I think it's perfect, considering how tough is working with the somewhat casual mapping of CFS2 stock textures. Please, let me tell you I think the red band on the cowl (the only one over the other three engines) is on the inner engine, according to the profile. Your screenshot shows it on the external engine. Just a minor detail, the rest of this splendid repaint must have taken a good effort to accomplish.

Another comment, if I may, about "Little Lulu". Are you sure the profile I attached is in desert camouflage? Considering the comment on the profile, "Little Lulu" was shot down by a Bf109 in August 1944 over an Eastern Europe target. By the end of 1943, almost all of 15th USAAF bombers had switched to temperate olive drab and light grey camo pattern, from the desert livery they had when they arrived from North African bases.

"Little Lulu" profile I got from Wings Palette looks to me more like a faded olive drab livery than a desert pink one. On the other hand, I might be wrong and I am making this comment based more on reasoning than the colour shown in the profile. I am famous for having taken a colour hue for another often times. My "girl"friend gets a huge kick out of it everytime! :biggrin-new:

Thank you very much for your hard work! :applouse:

Cheers!

Hi Kelti
4450
You are right, I mistaken with the red band on the left inner engine.
There was also an artifact under the shark mouth, in the lower front part (a red band that has not to be there)
I got rid of that and I also redrown the theeth (particularly the lower)of the smark mooth.
I think the model is now quite good (see the real picture of the bird)
4451

Here is a new zip with the updated textures
4452.

Rami please, can you be kind enough to replace the updated zip in the library has I don't know haw to do that. Tanks again for that

Concerning "Little Lulu",
The picture I founded on the net shows her in an in-between dark sand/pale olive drab color
4453
So I painted her skin over a sand bakground that I made a little darker...
4454

I thought, that was the best way to look close to the profile I got...
I will try to found more info on the net for her exact color...

....You are right, I mistaken with the red band on the left inner engine......

Holy Liberators, Beepee! :worked_till_5am:

Thank you so much for correcting "Tubarao", but I didn't mean you to go and repaint once more "Little Lulu"!

I was just wondering if my reasoning, about how "Little Lulu" must have looked when she was shot down, was correct. If you think that at the time USAAF had already stripped down their aircraft fleet to natural metal finish, in order to lure Luftwaffe fighter units into combat and save weight, any guess is good. After all, Wings Palette did post incorrect profiles every now and then.

Anyway, thank you again for your ongoing effort. As many others here, I think there will never be too many historical repaints for our virtual aviation history museum! :adoration:

Cheers!

More realistic overall olive drab color finish, and modified nose art from WWI picture of the bird.

The first version of the nose art was a little fuzzy, so I made a new one more clean.

YEAH MAN, THIS IS PURE MAGIC!

THANK YOU!
KH :ernaehrung004:

P.S.: Beepee, since you decided to double your effort, I gather you found confirmation she was painted in olive drab. Let me ask you, where did you find the info and "Little Lulu" B/W picture?
I'd like to see if I can find more info about 1944-45 15th USAAF ops in Northern Italy, do you happen to know how to get access to declassified USAAF records of the period? Providing they were uploaded to the Net.

Hi Kelti

You are right, I mistaken with the red band on the left inner engine.
There was also an artifact under the shark mouth, in the lower front part (a red band that has not to be there)
I got rid of that and I also redrown the theeth (particularly the lower)of the smark mooth.
I think the model is now quite good (see the real picture of the bird)

Here is a new zip with the updated textures
4452.

Rami please, can you be kind enough to replace the updated zip in the library has I don't know haw to do that. Tanks again for that

I Uploaded today a new skin for Allen B24J Liberator
The package contains skin textures for :
B-24J-1-NT "Kathryn Anne/Dopey" serial 42-78600,
Flown by llt Robert McKee, 98th BG. Marcianise, Italy. Ap,il 1945
This Liberator earned the dubious distinction of being the very last B-24 to seek refuge in Switzerland during World War 2. The bomber touching down at Dubendorf with battle damage on 8 April 1th 945.
452045214522
From my researchs on the net, I think that the cowlings were red...and not silver like in the drawing.
The colors of Dopey are from my own feeling, interpreted from Dopey pictures founded on the net...
Enjoy

I upload today a new skin for Allen B24-J Liberator
The package contains skin textures for :
B-24J-20-FO "Sissy Lee" serial 42-51974,
flown by 1lt Joseph C Clayton, 456th BG. 15th AF February 1945
This aircraft was one of six Fifteenth Air Force J-24s that landed i n Switzerland following the large raid on the marshalling yards at Augsburg
on 27 February 1 945.
Intercepted by Swiss fighters once in neutral airspace, the bomber landed at Oubendorf with its number one engine shut down
The cowl rings, shawn in red in most pictures of the bird, are estimated, as reference used appeared to show them in a coloured shade.
The WWII photos founded on the net show that only the left outer engine cowling was painted (red or coloured shade ?)

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Skins - American

Description: Updated Skin for "Patches" B 24J Liberator for CFS2 by Allen.

The shark mouth of the former version was not right, so I redrew it to match more its real design.

The package contains updated skin textures for:
B-24J-1 5-FO "Patches", serial 42-51978, of the 756th BS/459th BG, Giulia Field, Cerignola, Italy, 1944.

Patches is drawn wearing the scheme it carried at war's end. The bomber survived the war and returned to the USA for scrapping.

I made for you an other people interested with 15th AF in Italy a specific file about 15th AF tail markings
Here it is, feel free to download it
4738
By the way, as the tail markings of the 15th AF changed after june 1944, I drawn a new skin for the B-24J "Patches" in the configuration of late 1944 markings. That is with 55th Bomb Wing recognition markings:black-and-yellow chekerboard painted on the rear left stabilizer, and a black diamond on the right stabilizer.

I will upload it soon
