Since Uncle Tgt did skins for the P-40's at Guadacanal I've started a Campaign for them. Most people know about the F4F's,P-39's,P-38's and F4U's that flew from Guadalcanal but not much about the P-40's of the USAAF.The P-40 arrived in December 1942 and the frist squadrons flew the F model, later the K and M models.Their mission was to escort B-17's and B-24's,anti-ship,intercepts and ground support. They were also involved in some of the biggest air battles in the Solomons in 1943.

This Campaign starts in January 1943 and will last through July 1943.In other words it will take awhile to do.

Hey Talon,

This sound very interesting. My favorite fighter of the war; I always thought is was underappreciated as a fighter. I hope when this one is complete that you are able to share your work with us. I'm looking forward to it.

I've also did a Pt boat base at Tulagi and a seaplane base in the Shortlands by Kahili.

I may also do some movies for this also.

I look forward to your work. Loved the P-40.
As an aside, as a "frac" engineer in the early days of my career, our pump trucks used surplus Allison a/c engines, unmuffled, to power our pumps. I can still hear those V-1710 engines today(with what is left of my hearing) :untroubled:
