I'm getting my parts list ready to order from Newegg. Which version of Vista do I need?

Vista Home Premium?

Vista Ultimate?

Vista Home Premium SP1-Retail

-or-

Vista Home Premium Sp1-Upgrade
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116470

Each one of them reads like it's the full version but different prices:help:

I'm going with the Core i7 940 for the processor w/ 6GB memory.

I must admit, part of the posts I have read researching Vista vs. XP have almost gotten me afraid of Vista, but then I read one saying how much better everything looks and runs under Vista. I'd almost like to stick with the familiar XP but would I get the full benefits of the i7 running XP? This system is going to have to last for a L O N G time so I want to "future proof" it as much as possible.

What I really like about Vista Ultimate is that it allows you to make system backups to disk..We did hers on two double DVD's ...

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the input Harleyman, sounds like Vista Ultimate may be the way to go then.

Will do, thanks! I'm thinking about getting the Mobo (Asus P6T) with the Palm to help with the overclocking, I may OC it slightly :jump:

LOL don't say that, I've read enough from Nick over at Simforums to convince me to get an Nvidia graphics card. I'm running an Ati now but have read several posts where people think weather kills the Ati cards in FSX, I'm getting tired of flying with pretty blue skies all the time, like to get in some IFR practice !:mixedsmi:

I have an 4870X2 and fly full weather in FS9 and no affects at all...But thats FS9 too.........:applause:
