Would anyone with FTX Global + FTX Vector be willing to post some screenshots of the Phoenix area? My understanding is that FTX Open LC for North America is to be released sometime down the road, so for now the best offering from ORBX is FTX Global base + FTX Vector for areas outside their specific coverage (e.g., PNW Blue, NRM, CRM, etc...).
I'm looking for screenshots of the greater Phoenix area, to include White Tank mountain to the west, Camelback mountain, the Superstition's to the east, and perhaps the Carefree area to the north (with Black mountain), and even some shots of the Sedona area would be GREATLY appreciated.
I know I keep harping on this area, but the Phoenix area and Arizona in general have been neglected in FSX. I'm hoping ORBX and the FTX releases will finally present Arizona with the accuracy and beauty it deserves. I know there are other offerings out there (GEX, UTX, Megascenery), but to date none has really displayed the area with full auto-gen and the texture/LC accuracy I've been looking for.

Okay, here you are. I tried not to make the pictures artistic, but instead a representation of what you'd see through the majority of any given flight. The colors are reminiscent of the New Mexican foothills (where I grew up) after a bit of moisture, but maybe a little green for Phoenix.

Thanks! You're right - lots of green there, although the outlying areas look nice. A bit too brown overall (needs more reddish tones IMO). Guess I'll wait and see what FTX Open LC has to offer first.
Thanks again.

Very Welcome. I would hope with time and patches that the greenery is reduced, but not sure about the red/brown hue of the desert textures. I think that would require very region specific textures that would be difficult to nail down...but I'm also not an expert by any means. It's only been a couple of flights, but the sim seems to load a little quicker and run a little smoother than when I was using UTX, but it could just be my imagination.

I seem to recall reading that ORBX plans on specific textures that will be included with the Open LC packs to enhance areas covered.

Green in the deserts has been reduced, but not enough to my liking. Hopefully a future fix. Hawaii looks very nice.

Excellent shots. There are bound to be criticisms, but on the whole these add-ons from one source as opposed to GEX and umpteen Ultimate Terrain files with the associated interminable patches seems to solve the clogging up problem and as a result frame rates and stutters for me at any rate seem to be a thing of the past. FTX is an expensive outlay, but pretty good entertainment value overall. :biggrin-new: More power to them!
