Non clickable cockpit's. Not for me. I stick to Il2 Cliffs of Dover Team Fusion patch 4 :02.47-tranquillity:

Yep, no clickable (like in IL-2 series before CoD) but this 3D graphics....amazing.

Just want to make sure you don't get in trouble, are you allowed to share photos of it?

I picked this one up last night and no matter how good the screenshots and videos look if you see it on your computer your jaw will hit the floor. I don't know how else to describe it except that the bar has been raised very high with this one and it is still only the early alpha version.

That looks really cool, alot of things (And planes) you do that aren't available/possible in FSx!

As this is alpha-stage, are they planning on making the cockpit's clickable?

Craig.

The feeling of actually flying something is unmatched in any sim. It is far more real feeling than anything in FSX or DCS. In Rise of Flight you had the feeling of flying a cloth covered wooden biplane. With IL2 BOS you get that same feeling, but it feels like being in a much heavier aircraft. Hard to describe, but it is the best by far.

The loss of VC interaction is surely not ideal; fumbling around the vc to try and toggle a switch doesn't yank you out of the sim nearly as much as having to pause and look up the key assignment you've forgotten. CoD + Fusions is an awesome combination, and each will have it's own strong points for immersion. Aside from great flight mechanics, the sounds in BoS are totally enveloping. I had the rare perk of working within roughly a mile of the FHC and HFF for two years, and had many test/maintenance flights fly right overhead. The sputters and growls are extremely convincing.

I also purchased the premium and just quickly tested the early access. BoF seems very promising indeed. Looks wonderful and I got easily 60FPS capped with my 6060x1080 Nvidia Surround all ingame settings maxed out using RoF profile. Under the hood there is definitely RoF engine which is purely a good thing: Flight model is simply fabulous! Engine sounds are also improved a lot compared to earlier IL-2s.

Only strange things I noticed was that early access aircraft seemed terribly difficult to control on ground. It felt like differential brakes weren't working at all. Also it seemed that my elevator trim didn't work although it was too mapped on controls. Clickable cockpit would be nice, but pretty much everything needed can be easily mapped, so it is really not necessary. Still, we are on very early stage with the sim and many things will change for better. I can't wait to fly the finished product and a campaign with He 111.:wiggle:

Next year or so seems nice for WW2 buffs. We get this and also DCS WW2, which will be another high quality product. Not bad at all, not bad...

Tailwheel lock and differential brakes are not implemented yet as well as trim. If you max out the prop pitch as you throttle up you can keep it pretty straight with careful rudder adjustments.

I came to FSX from IL2 -1946 with triplehead2go.

I had a setup like this from Roger Dodger Aviation:

I made something very similar to this:

Then I came to FSX and had to adjust to needing a mouse.

Oleg Maddux strikes me very much as a man suffering from stubborn artist syndrome! He's extremely talented, no argument there. But, how long now have folks been providing him feedback on the desire to see the same fidelity of clickable DVC's as has been part and parcel for the FSX and FS titles for many years past? Yet, even with a new title to release in 2013-14, we still don't see him willing to invest the time and money to make that long sought desire a reality!

Well, it's his money and his choice. But, there are a lot of folks out there looking for some accomodation for reasonable desires.

Oleg is not involved in this project. The sim is only 32% complete, hard to believe from the vids and screens. This one will be epic.

Oleg is not involved in this IL-2 project!

That's like finding out Walt Disney was not involved in creating Mickey Mouse!

Yes, I believe this was taken over by the same group that creates Rise Of Flight? Perhaps someone can update us as I don't recall the particulars.

I put the new text about Early Access of IL-2 BoS: http://yoyosims.pl/il-2-battle-stalingrad-early-access .

Its in my native language (sorry) but feel free to use Translate Google button to take a "sens" of the text. It isnt a review - BoS is still under construction :-).

I couldn't care less about clickable VCs, because real planes didn't have mice, and if I wanted an airplane systems management sim I'd load up my copy of DCS.

I really hope this sim puts more focus on recreating the experience of combat. I'll happily give up oil cooler switches or realistic startup sequences if it nets me realistic AI tactics, enemies who head for home when damaged, AI pilots that fly using historical tactics and that use strategies that take advantage of the strength of their planes, realistic big formations, and anything approaching the experience of recreating the battles you read about in WW2 histories.

Let's leave the clickable cockpits and deep engine management to sims like FSX, P3D, and DCS, and focus on something that feels like WW2 combat, something with a rich, living world full of surprises and historically accurate flying rather than slavish focus on rivet count, overmodeled departures, and other issues that have plagued sims since the combat flight sim genre went stagnant at the end of the 90s.
