I came across this repaint of a dc3 meant for x-plane but wondered
if anyone could convert this repaint for the MJ DC3/C47 V2?
Would appreciate it if any takers can make a repaint of this.

The plane itself has a storied past:
"Jiminy Cricket" is depicted as it flew for the Sicily operation in improvised night camouflage.
It was one of the original 52 C-47s that deployed to Egypt with the 316thTCG in December 1942.
"Jiminy Cricket" was one of the first from the 316th Sq.
ATC, to visit Project 19, delivering worn out parts and returning rebuilt
engines to the RAF. It eventually took part in the invasion of Sicily,
where, the pilot, Sgt. George Quisenberry received wounds from German FLAK.
The shell destroyed the nose of the Aircraft, knocking out all instruments
except the stand by compass. Jiminy carried the crew back with nothing but
the moon and the sticking standby compass. Jiminy Cricket was repaired and
served through May 1, 1947, then was "salvaged"

Nice work there. Just one small observation the top right corner of the 5 needs to shaved off to match that of the orginal picture.

JK: Looking good there 320

EDit:

One question: Look at enclosed pic and tell me what that is inside red circle,,,,,, almost looks like a gun.....

Don't see it on my #1 post here nor on profile pic, I think it's a fluke. Never heard of C47 with guns that close in esp. on wings.

this months Air Classics ,in the back where there is a section about "propliners" or big props...something like that...it shows one of the DC-3 super's..which i guess is technically a C-117?...anyway one of the pics shows that thing as well..i thought maybe it was some sort of air intake for exhaust.

It's not a gun, it's the intake for a shroud round the exhaust which heats air to provide some heat for the cabin.
The VW Beetle used a similar device and neither of them was ever warm inside using this method.

Regards,
Nick.

The paint can now be found on OZx, without the 420 on the nose. I based it on the profile in grey eagle's request, and that did not have the 420 on it.
The picture was taken earlier, before the application of the black paint, so I am assuming they overpainted it here...

but I can also do a pre-black version if you like?

Jankees,

Thanks for doing the repaint, very nice. I did notice a web page that was devoted to this particular plane and the nose number 420 is visible and in the pre black version.
So, I appreciate and accept your offer to add the "420" on the nose. Not sure if it was originally painted without the black on top. From what I gather on my research, It was painted in a improvised night camouflage.(Black paint on top of fuselage.) That would make sense as they perhaps were doing night missions with paratroopers, hence the black paint on top.
Thanks for your time. 384
