I have been playing around with the 2009 version of Mandriva Linux with the GNOME desktop for about a week now. I have to say it is the easiest Linux I have tried.
Installed easy, updates easy, and adding most software has been very easy once I learned where to look. Just tell it to fetch and it downloads and installs your choices from a long list of software. Even my employees think it is at least as easy to use as XP.
You can even try it without making changes to your computer. Burn it to CD and it will run from the CD.
I think we are going to switch all of our non-gaming rigs over to it, and if I could run my games on it I would ditch Windows completely.
If you are thinking about changing from Windows and not into a lot of gaming you might want to check it out.
