Hi all.

After a 2-years-hiatus I am finally back flying ;-) also my motivation for repaints is back. I primarily intend to do some repainting of the US Navy models, here is a little tease of what I was up to the last days... before you point it out to me, I know that not every squadron had the F-14D, but like I allready told Mr Dino Cattaneo, it is a virtual world and I wanna see them all flying again. I intend to do every Tomcat squadron in several versions and surely I'll very soon do something for the Razbam A-7 model... hope you like it so far.

I've sent my Red Rippers repaint to Dino. I may release it separately once he responds, otherwise you may have to wait until his next update.
It's the CAG bird from the mid-90ies. Out of all Rippers paintjobs over the decades, I find the rare tails on this one to be the prettiest. I've also done a completely new wear & tear layer, as always.

...pressing on with rare paint jobs, what do you think about this one of the VF-2 Bounty Hunters, deployed in 1997 aboard USS Constellation? Found only 3 pictures of this. I may still do a different dirt layer so that it doesn't look the same as my previous one...

I've never released any of my repaints.. For two reasons.. One I never sat down to learn how.. And two.. There are lots of people who are better at this then me and lots of Monday morning quarterbacks who like to point out what's not completely right about the new textures...I do send my stuff to people who ask.. Are the links still active here in the SOH library to your previously uploaded repaints from a year or two ago, or were they hosted on a different site? I seem to remember some Point Mugu stuff ? Mike :salute:

Hmmm... I had a repaints thread about 2 years ago where I did some work for the IRIS F-14A mostly, but I can't find it anymore, it's probably deleted. Don't know if that is what you mean anyway... I still have these repaints though, and I have to say they look amateurish to me now...

Ejnoy another rare bird. Thanks to decals that I have from a Revell plastic model I was able to get into every detail. As always, I've tried to paint as realisitc as I can with a new dirt layer.

Yeah, I think it's time to add some realistically fukked-up repaints of the dirty SLUF to our lives. Still putting some finishing touches on this one, I thing overall it needs to be a darker shade of grey, whaddayou say? I almost got dirt on my hands while painting it ;-P This one is straight from the cruise book of 1987, USS Saratoga.

Not sure when the air wings crossed decks, but I DO know that VFA-81 & 83 were on the Sara for the '90 Med cruise.

It was quite common, though, for squadrons to switch carriers.

I've finished and uploaded my repaint of the CAG bird of VF-31, 1995.
Oh yeah, and while I was at it I had an epiphany and did another one.

Really good colors for the Big Cat, sir! Any chance of a VF-201 Hunters tribute paint? They didn't fly the D (A model only) but they did soldier-on as the last Naval Reserve Tomcat squadron. I can
send you some photo references if needed. They flew out of Dallas NAS until they moved over to the Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base (formerly Carswell AFB).

I will try to increase my activities here, too. I was very busy with the Aerosoft F-14X the last few years with the count curently at 23 paintjobs, add that to 14 for Dino's F-14D, and it is quite some amount. Several others in various stages of progress...
