Probably the most fun I had flying was the two years I spent there.

I haven't seen South of Pago Pago, but the name of that American Samoan capital brings to my mind...

Bora Gora!

Great series! Gladly I have it on DVD and I am able to enjoy it today and of course take OZx Goose for a spin in Prepar3d. I think there isn't a fictional Bora Gora scenery, but many pacific islands in the sim with good addon sceneries are a good substitute:wiggle:

You can get great banana fritters in Pago Pago. Probably 50% grease by weight. That's what I remember of the place... and Samoan women as big as NFL linebackers, lol.

We weighed our passengers for the Twin Otter. Always carried several seatbelt extensions.

Wonder why? Is it diet?Life style?

On Samao and also on other Pacific islands, obesity has a solid cultural foundation (excuse the pun).

Being fat literally means your opinion has weight. Samoa has a culture where having plenty of food tradiationally denoted a high social status and wealth. Wealthy people also had people to do the heavy lifting. So being fat meant you didn't have to do heavy work and you had food to spare.

Simply put, being fat meant you were wealthy. Being fat used to be a privilege of the rich.

Of course now with American fast food cheaply available, to be fat you don't have to be rich, but the social bias is still there ...

Social functions on Samoa still involve a lot of eating - the more affluent the gathering, the more courses are served at dinner ...

In a country where most of the govt is more or less fat government campaigns on loosing weight really don't cut it ...

Sunnuvagun, but I remember that movie well!

Although I was a mere callow lad, at the time, it made a lasting impression on me.

Thanks for the memories.
