As I understand it, the primary reason Lucas adopted digital cameras was to make it easier to incorporate the digital graphics from his special effects department. I hope that the return to standard film signals that these producers intend to also tone down the special effects a bit and get a renewed focus on good old fashioned acting!

Further, I just recalled there was an unintended consequence to the adoption of so many digital films. It caused the closure of many older theaters in smaller cities without the revenue streams to afford the upgrade in projection equipment required to show digital films. Among these casualties were many theaters on military bases. Most of them were closed rather than spend the money on the upgrades. So, our poorest airmen, sometimes without transportation, can no longer walk from their barracks to a base theater to watch a movie!

I so regretted that decision on all avenues. If it turns out that Hollywood returns to celluloid film then that decision looks even worse.

There was a 1941 era film with John Wayne, "The Shepherd of the Hills," that was shot in Technicolor format, Wayne's first color film. But, it was a case of double shooting, meaning the film was shot both in that format plus the more popular format in black and white. As a consequence, many people never saw the widescreen format in color! Years back, Turner Classic Movies showed the widescreen format which was when I saw it for the first time.

It was an excellent story! One of John Wayne's lost classics.
