That is EXCELLENT work! Will be nice to see that one done. I hope they put in a bit of weathering on the interior; scuffing and scratches for a little bit of a lived in look. ;)

Yup, a definite buy. Is it my monitor or is the green kinda bright?

I was thinking this my own, but then again good old Shockwave (A2A) B-29 has pretty close that coulour cockpit. And if you look at this:
http://www.davidpalermo.com/data/slideshow/18/enolagay/index.html
Coulours definitely seem to be in the same ball park. Just that it seems there is little bit too much green in the Virtavia compared to the real life cockpit panorama in the link and some parts are also bit darker green. Then again, coulours may have varied a lot during the production.

And yes, a must buy, sure.:wiggle:

My dad's old office. :)

Virtavia, for gawds sake, will you correct that fuselage shape before you release this ! Please !!!

I toned down the green vc textures in the B17 as they did seem a little too vibrant to me so it wouldn't be a biggie to do the same for the B29.

Yes, that wouldn't be a big task to darken them a bit.

What do you feel is wrong with it?

Whats happened is that the modeler has made the rear bomb bay a constant diameter along its entire length, and so there is a sudden 'corner' before the fuselage tapers up towards the tail ( arrowed). It really stands out, and spoils the general shape aft of the wing.

In reality, the B-29 fuselage diameter starts to reduce just aft of the forward end of the rear bomb bay, and there is a long gentle continuous curve back to about where the national insignia is on the side of the fuselage.

Forward bomb bay = constant diameter

How do you do that? Is a paint program needed?

I just used DXTBmp and as an editor I use Irfanview (freeware). I have no painting skills whatsoever but it's easy enough just to change the tone or brightness.

I was thinking myself that with Paintshop you could add some black layer above the texture with low opacity and merge the image. With this method, you could also alter a colour shade somewhat, using for example gray, blue, yellow etc. layer if you want to. I haven't ever done this, but this is how I would do try to do it "quick and dirty".

regarding the shape of the underside fuselage towards the rear bomb bay, I will bring it up to the boss, but that's about the best I can do. No guarantees.

Mitch, thank you !!!! I've also talked to Frank ( Fsfranek ) on this, via PM

Please use all your persuasive powers because this is the best chance us B-29 fans have of a native FSX Superfort, and its driving me crazy that such an error has been built into the model. The Shockwave ( now A2A ) Superfort was exactly the same - constant diameter rear bomb bay - a 'corner' to get it to taper to the tail !

I live 7 miles north of a museum B-29 and will take any and all photographs required to assist in getting this right. The B-29 fuselage is a constant circular cross section ( of varying diameter of course ), and is lined up along the top. i.e. the top of the fuselage is a straight line.

Thanks Roger! I'll try it out on the B-17 until this one comes out.
